Central Scheduling Coordinator-Per Diem

Primary Purpose\:

 

The Patient Access Services (PAS) Coordinator Scheduling/Registration supports the clinical operations of the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PMR) department and provides seamless appointment scheduling and registration to patients and referring physicians across California Pacific Medical Center (CPMC) by aligning scheduling guidelines with patient appointment preferences.  The PAS Scheduling/Registration employee coordinates patient needs with department resources and secures financial clearance by validating eligibility and verification of coverage and obtaining authorization.  Consistently facilitates positive multi-channel communications among patients, physicians, clinical staff, and internal departments to serve patient and referring physicians using advanced writing, telephone, and e-mail and internet skills.  Multi-channel communications include\:  Telephone, fax, electronic fax, email and the EHR (Electronic Health Record).

 

Provides excellent patient-focused customer service.  Communicates effectively to service delivery areas to maximize patient flow and customer service.  Responsible for supporting the success of a high-performing service organization.  Fosters an environment in which continuous improvement in business processes and services is welcomed and recognized.

Qualification:

Knowledge\:  

  • High school graduate or GED equivalent required.

  • Associates degree or higher level education preferred.

  • Familiarity with medical terminology preferred.

  • Third party, (governmental and non-governmental), requirements, rules and guidelines.

 Experience\:

  • Two years hospital or medical office clerical support experience preferred.

  • Experience executing Patient Access standards, processes, policies, procedures preferred.

Skills and Abilities\:

  • Computer keyboard skills; basic and terminal digit filing; good telephone and communication skills; reading and writing skills; computer literacy.

  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to manage frequent in-person and/or phone patient contacts while effective maintaining and documenting data in the electronic medical record.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication and active listening skills

  • Interpersonal skills necessary in dealing with internal and external customer

  • Accuracy and attentiveness to detail required

  • Must be able to set and organize own work priorities, and adapt to change

  • Ability to meet or exceed targeted customer service, productivity and quality standards

  • Requires the ability to work with and maintain confidential information

  • General understanding of Patient Accounting Systems

  • General understanding of Microsoft Office applications and competent user of Excel and Outlook.
