Overview:

Xenobiotic Laboratories (XBL), a subsidiary of the Lab Testing Division of WuXi AppTec, Inc., is a leading contract research laboratory specializing in small molecule bioanalytical, drug metabolism, and pharmacokinetic services to the pharmaceutical, animal health and agrochemical industries.  XBL is seeking an Group Leader for their Bioanalytical Department located in Plainsboro, NJ. 

Responsibilities:

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Designs, plans and carries out the more complex research studies including method development, validation for the analytes and its metabolites in various matrices. Provides multiple approaches during the planning step
  • Plans experimental studies in accordance with GLP, EPA, CVM, and OECD or other applicable regulations
  • Troubleshoot procedures or studies to search out causes and remedies for problems.
  • Leads and ensures the smooth transfer of the bioanalytical methods for animal health studies from the development to the validation stage.
  • Documents results and prepares interpretative reports for animal health studies, which may lead to further research.
  • Consults with, advises, and supervises other research personnel, as appropriate.
  • Compiles, records, calculates, and analyzes data in accordance with accepted standards and practices.  Interprets significance of results and draws conclusions.
  • Writes comprehensive reports, recommending application of finings, and presents clear and concise oral reports of processes and accomplishments.
  • Assumes complete responsibility for assigned animal health projects, such as acting as study director/ principal investigator, and assumes a continuing responsibility for contributing ideas related to this area of investigation.
  • Maintains close professional contact with development in the field of bioanalytical techniques.
  • Generally acts as project coordinator.
  • May serve as a contact for the sponsor.
  • Thorough understanding of Good Laboratory Practices as well as CVM, EPA, FDA, OECD, and other applicable regulations.
  • Promotes implementation and compliance with XBL safety policies, practices, and procedures in order to maintain a safe work environment and minimize or eliminate injury.
  • Guides and counsels employees in order to contribute to the goals of XBL for both a long and short period and to encourage personal growth.
  • Provides continuous workload and resources assessment to meet the timelines.
  • Supervises/trains the Junior Scientists on the novel experimental procedures and the new techniques.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Experience / Training / Education:

  • Master degree in chemistry, biology, or a related discipline, or equivalent
  • 5-10 years of applicable industrial experience in Regulated Bioanalysis, for animal health studies.
  • Any similar combination of education and experience

 

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities:

  • Expert knowledge of applicable scientific concepts, practices, and procedures within biological or chemical R&D laboratory setting
  • Well organized, detail oriented, and adaptable to changes
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Computer skills: knowledge of internet research, MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Knowledge of Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS)
  • Knowledge of Data Acquisitions and Operating Software as Analyst, MassLynx
