The State of Connecticut, Department of Public Health (DPH) is seeking a qualified individual to join our team as our Alternative Treatment Systems Program Manager. This position will develop an Alternative Treatment Systems (ATS) program within the Environmental Health and Drinking Water Branch’s Environmental Health Section. Alternative treatment systems utilize advanced mechanical technologies that surpass conventional septic systems in treating wastewater and removing pollutants.
This program will work closely with the Environmental Engineering Program. The ATS Program will address environmental and housing development needs in Connecticut and will help DPH assist with achieving the Governor's housing development goals and addressing the unique wastewater management challenges in underserved areas.
Please Note: This position is durational with an anticipated end date of June 30, 2028

- Work Hours: Typical work schedule of Monday through Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm.

Under the direct supervision of a Public Health Section Chief, this position will be responsible for duties that will include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Developing the ATS program.
- Developing regulations and standards for AT system design, installation, and operation.
- Establishing a licensure program for installers and operators of AT systems.
- Ensure regulatory compliance, performance tracking, and effective enforcement.
- Creating a training and certification program for local health officials.
- Overseeing the AT technology product review process for new and continued use in Connecticut.
- Chairing a Technical Advisory Committee for AT systems.
- Supervise and manage program staff.

PURPOSE OF JOB CLASS (NATURE OF WORK)

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
