Hiring/Budgeted Salary or Hourly Range: The budgeted salary range that the university reasonably expects to pay for this position is $53,000 – 60,000

Full Salary Range: The full salary range for the position is $53,000 - $64,000

We are seeking an Assistant Director of Financial Aid & Scholarships to work remotely on a full-time 37.5-hour per week basis. 

Summary

The Assistant Director of Financial Aid oversees the daily operations of the Financial Aid Office, supervising and evaluating the advisor, assistant, and temporary or work-study staff. This position is responsible for translating regulatory requirements outlined by the Director of Financial Aid (“DFA”) into actionable unit procedures and processes, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and institutional policies. The Assistant Director oversees institutional merit scholarships and coordinates stewardship placement for all endowed need-based and merit-based university scholarships. They also provide financial aid counseling in individual and group settings and lead initiatives in financial literacy and default prevention. Additionally, they liaise with the Department of Education and other external agencies while coordinating financial aid operations with other campus partners, such as admissions, advising, the registrar, and student accounts, to optimize workflows and enhance overall efficiency.

This role requires systems knowledge and technical aptitude for effectively working with data and systems that support the overall work of the Financial Aid Office. It involves ongoing maintenance and monitoring of electronic record transmissions and oversight of all financial aid office data, systems tools, and solutions, including Ellucian Colleague and the Department of Education partner websites. The Assistant Director audits the Colleague Data System to ensure compliance with Title IV and other funding requirements and collaborates with the DFA to implement new processes, develop training modules, and communicate financial aid regulations effectively. 

The Assistant Director also consults with the DFA to create and refine policies and procedures, exercises delegated decision-making authority in the DFA’s absence and ensures adherence to audit and compliance standards. With a strong understanding of federal, state, and institutional regulations, the Assistant Director plays a pivotal role in maintaining compliance, improving operational efficiency, and supporting students in achieving their educational goals through effective financial aid strategies. This position provides critical oversight of financial aid programs and services, fostering collaboration across the university to meet institutional objectives.

QUALIFICATIONS

Applicants should have a bachelor’s degree in Higher Education Administration, Public Administration, Business Administration, or a relevant field. Master's degree preferred. Minimum 5 to 7 years’ progressive experience in financial aid administration within a higher education setting. Extensive experience with Ellucian Colleague administration. Experience with management or unit leadership.
