Assistant Director of Student Success AnalyticsCampus Title: Assistant Director of Student Success AnalyticsState Job Title: Assistant DirectorDepartment: Academic Affairs/ Department of Course Achievement Retention and Engagement (CARE)Job Code: HA6000FLSA Status: ExemptFunding: GrantBargaining Unit: APAJob Type: This position is a grant-funded, temporary, 1-year, full-time, benefited position with a strong likelihood of a 2-year extension; for a total of three yearsTimeframe: 52 WeeksShift: Monday-Friday 9am-5pmRegular Days Off: Saturday and SundaySupervision Received: The Assistant Director reports to the Assistant Provost for Educational Excellence and Retention.Supervision Exercised: The Assistant Director has no direct supervisory responsibilitiesSalary: $72,000.00-$77,000.00 (commensurate with education and experience)General Statement of Duties:The Assistant Director of Student Success Analytics will utilize various platforms, including Starfish, to predict and track students who are at risk of not being retainedDuties and Responsibilities:Duties include but not limited to:Essential:• Utilize EAB - Starfish and other software platforms that utilize predictive models to identify at-risk students, particularly students from underrepresented groups.• Assist other student support offices to identify students at risk of not successfully progressing through their course of study.• At the direction of the Assistant Provost, serve on committees charged with improving student success by providing data and analysis.• Working with other student support staff, utilize data analytics to develop strategies to better support student success.• Work with the Office of Admissions to build a predictive model to improve student persistence and success.• Train faculty and staff on the use of EAB ? Starfish (WSU 360), including planning educational campaigns to increase use in reporting at-risk students.• Work with Institutional Research, and other campus offices, to identify barriers to student success rooted in curriculum, policies and procedures, and other structures at the University.• Understand and operationalize best practices in student success, outcomes assessment, and cognate literatures as they relate to student success initiatives.• Other duties as assigned.Job Requirements:Required Qualifications• Experience and/or interest in higher education.• A bachelor's degree in an analytical field such as data science, computer science, computer information systems, statistics or social science with the appropriate technical and analytical skills.• Experience working in areas of higher education which focus on student success.• Direct experience, or a desire to learn, with EAB ? Starfish.• Ability to comply with privacy/confidentiality laws as they relate to student records specifically, or to the electronic storage of personal information.• Ability to record, verify and report data with a high degree of accuracy.• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, especially Excel and Access.• Strong written and verbal communication skills.• Excellent organizational skills.• Experience working both independently and within a team environment.• Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently.Additional Information:Salary:Salaries for current Westfield State University employees and individuals currently working for the state of Massachusetts must be calculated individually in accordance with collective bargaining agreements as well as state policies.
