Required Education

Candidates must hold an ABET accredited degree and a doctorate degree in civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a closely related field.



Required Related Experience

The department is especially interested in candidates with expertise in natural hazards, remote sensing, and modeling and evaluation of the impacts of climate change on surface and subsurface geologic materials to identify and address risks to the built and natural environment; encompassing field, laboratory, analytical, and numerical studies of geomaterials and use of terrestrial and space-based remote sensing tools for hazard characterization and to improve infrastructure resilience to extreme events and geohazards such as landslides, mudflows, and rockslides.



Required License/Registration/Certification

State law requires faculty members teaching engineering design to become licensed as Professional Engineers in Kentucky within four years of being employed



Job Summary

The Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Kentucky seeks candidates for a tenure-eligible, 9-month appointment (Regular Title Series) faculty position at the assistant or associate professor level in the area of Natural Hazards Engineering, with a strong interdisciplinary background in geotechnical/geological engineering and engineering geology.

New faculty are also encouraged to collaborate with faculty throughout the Department and across the University of Kentucky campus.
