Brief Job Overview/Summary
Under the supervision of the Associate Dean of Students, the Associate Director of the Office of Student Conduct provides leadership and oversight for Student Conduct processes, interim actions, proactive and preventative education, and conflict mediation and serves as a member of the Vice President for Student Affairs Leadership Council.
Descriptions of Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
- Responsible for executing the Campus Hearing Board (CHB) process, including sending notices, holding meetings/hearings, recruitment, training, and education of hearing panelists, etc. Train and supervise judicial/pre-hearing officers in crisis management. Provide on-going training and development opportunities. Ensures that student conduct is administered in a fair, impartial, non-adversarial, restorative, and educational manner through the recruitment and training of conduct officers and hearing board members, committed to this philosophy
- Assist in the daily administrative functions of the Office of Student Conduct as requested, including drafting correspondence, handling inquiries and requests for information, addressing student, and community complaints or concerns, etc.
- Coordinate conduct adjudication of campus related incidents under oversight of the Associate Dean of Students.
- Assess and recommend implementing new and current technology and manage and update the office webpages.
- Coordinate operations (training, planning, and organizing) of the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT). Serves on related teams and committees, such as Stockton Cares Team and Student Well-Being and Safety Review Committee, as needed.
- Assist management of financial budgets, including but not limited to: regular review of expenditures, accurate recording keeping (i.e. balance sheet), perform budget forecasting, etc.
- Assist in the coordination of conduct adjudication for Residential Life, Title IX related matters, and Bias reports including supportive measures.
- Serve as CHB pre-hearing officer and/or moderator for CHB cases and a mediator for the Mediation and Problem Solving (MAPS) program.
- Provide direct supervision for the Assistant Director of Student Conduct, focusing on planning, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of educational programming pertaining to retention, student conduct code, civility, and mediation and operations of the Mediation and Problem Solving (MAPS) program, including training, recruitment, marketing, program development, and assessment.
- Serve as a liaison to campus constituents as it pertains to conduct education including, but not limited to Student Affairs, Stockton University Police, and Academic Affairs departments.
- Assist with records maintenance in compliance with institutional policies, relevant laws, and mandated reporting. Knowledgeable in applicable federal, state, and local laws and university policy and procedures to support the mission of the office.
- Assist with the regular review of policies, procedures, and publications for the office.
- Other duties as assigned by the Associate Dean of Students, AVP for Advocacy, Belonging, and Campus Standards/Dean of Students, and/or Vice President for Student Affairs.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education Leadership, Educational Leadership or related field
- Experience in student conduct administration and leadership in higher education
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Knowledge of conduct/documentation software (e.g.. Maxient) and campus hearing board procedures
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to provide high level of leadership and oversight for student conduct administration
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience as a manager in a higher education setting
- Knowledge of Title IX, Clery Act and other regulatory and compliance laws and statues
