The City of Irvine seeks an innovative and customer-focused individual to join the Traffic Engineering team with knowledge and understanding of traffic engineering best practices and principles within the capacity of an Associate Engineer position. Your Impact
- Collect data and conduct analysis for speed surveys, signal warrants, stop control warrants, safety assessments, and other transportation-related studies
- Represent the department while collaborating with public safety, the general public, neighboring public agencies, homeowner associations, school districts, and/or universities.
- Develop and manage transportation related projects, including knowledge and understanding of the design and review process for roadway signing and striping plans, as well as temporary traffic control plans.

- Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
- Three years of professional engineering experience or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities.
- A valid California Driver's license is required.
- Professional registration as a Civil Engineer in the State of California or E.I.T. is preferred.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to simultaneously manage multiple project schedules amongst day-to-day tasks and efforts.
- Comfortable providing outstanding customer service and sound judgement when addressing traffic engineering related concerns in order to determine appropriate solutions.
- Professional registration as a Civil Engineer or Traffic Engineer in the State of California is preferred. Engineer in Training (E.I.T) certification should be in possession upon application.
The Public Works & Sustainability Department combines the strengths of Administration & Planning, Park Development, Transportation Planning & Mobility, Infrastructure Maintenance & Operations, Capital Project Delivery, and Sustainability &Environmental Initiatives to create a unified approach to infrastructure management and sustainability. City assets include streetscapes, open space, City parks (community and neighborhood), athletic fields, bike trails, roadways, traffic signals, and more. The Capital Improvement Program has an annual delivery of $100 million in capital projects, in addition to the delivery of the globally relevant Great Park.
