Job Summary
The Cardiovascular Tech I assists in the performance of diagnostic and interventional cardiovascular procedures under the supervision of a registered technologist or physician. This entry-level role supports patient preparation, equipment setup, and procedural assistance in a cardiac catheterization lab or vascular lab environment. The Tech I ensures adherence to safety standards, regulatory requirements, and departmental protocols.
Essential Functions
- Assist with patient preparation, positioning, and equipment setup
- Operate basic equipment under supervision during cardiovascular procedures
- Maintain sterile field and assist with contrast injections and device delivery
- Prepare and maintain procedural rooms and supplies
- Document procedures, vital signs, and patient responses under supervision
- Transport patients and assist with post-procedure care
- Follow radiation safety and infection control protocols
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations
- Basic understanding of anatomy, physiology, and cardiovascular terminology
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow directions
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team
Qualifications
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Completion of a cardiovascular or radiologic technology program preferred
Licenses/Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required within six (6) months of hire
- Registry-eligible through ARRT, RCIS, or CCI preferred
Experience
- No experience required; clinical training or externship preferred
