Title: Coordinator of Non-Credit EMS Programs

Job Summary:

The Coordinator is responsible for Non-Credit Emergency Medical Services (EMS) programs and courses which grants technical certificates or continuing education contact hours. The Coordinator will lead, supervise, manage, and implement all aspects of the programs and courses, including classroom development and instruction, curriculum development, marketing, recruitment and advising of students, budgeting, and faculty supervision and support, and revision/modification of all program components as needed. Position includes teaching responsibilities as assigned.

The Coordinator holds a 12-month staff position and is under the supervision of the Director of EMS. The Coordinator is expected to participate in community activities related to the College’s mission.

Job Duties:

Teach occasionally during the day, evening, weekend, and off-campus. Develop curriculum; evaluate and review non-credit courses. Evaluate and monitor progress to achieve goals and objectives (and those by any licensing, registering, or certifying agency as applicable); assist with affiliation efforts. Attend college and department meetings. Ensure compliance with all Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR) and College policies, guidelines, licensure requirements, and other state and federal guidelines including the Tennessee EMS Board and National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians. Direct, supervise, manage, and implement the overall operation of the non-credit EMS courses. Interview, hire, supervise, and evaluate instructors and ensure adequate staffing for the program courses. Market the course offerings, recruit and advise students. Monitor and analyze data pertinent to students’ successful academic performance. Manage textbooks including working with departmental committees during the review process, coordinating with publishers, negotiating purchase packages, and organizing demonstrations and training for electronic resources. Oversee student complaint resolution by ensuring that student discipline and complaint policy and procedures are followed, meet with students and coordinate with the EMS Director and/or Health Sciences Dean in mediating resolution. Maintain parts and supplies inventory, ordering parts and supplies and keeping related records. Recommend purchase of new equipment and submit appropriate purchase requests following Vol State and department procedures. Coordination and implementation of the clinical education component of the curriculum including scheduling of students, facilitating orientation to sites, conducting site visits, functioning as emergency contact, provide line of communications with clinical sites. Oversee use of facilities and equipment for day, evening, and weekend classes. Act as liaison between students, the medical director, sponsoring agencies, local medical community, and state level certifying/licensing agency as needed. Some travel required. Other duties as assigned. 

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate degree from a regionally accredited institution.
Currently licensed as a Tennessee Paramedic, without a history of revocation, denial, or suspension of licensure.
Pre-Hospital experience: Minimum of two (2) years practicing in the pre-hospital environment.
Administration experience: Verifiable proof of a minimum of two (2) years in EMS education administration or a minimum of three hundred (300) hours of EMS instruction.
Currently endorsed in an EMS Board-approved trauma, cardiac and pediatric course (instructor preferred).
Completion of an EMS Board approved instructors’ course.
Current Paramedic Instructor/Coordinator designation.
Three years of related experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
Collegiate-level teaching experience with an accredited EMS program.
Supervisory or management experience.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Knowledge and/or experience using a variety of instructional delivery modes.
Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with a diverse faculty, staff, and student population.
Proficiency in using the internet, management system software, and clinical documenting software.

Pay Rate: $47,276 - $59,095 annual salary depending on experience
