Job Summary

We are looking for an exceptionally skilled Senior Data Engineer to join our team and help us realize our transformative objectives in advancing healthcare outcomes. The ideal Senior Data Engineer should have a proven track record in conceiving and building efficient data solutions using Databricks and Azure cloud services (including Azure Data Factory, Azure Databricks, and Azure SQL Database). The Data Engineer must demonstrate strong proficiency in Python and T-SQL, along with extensive experience in data warehousing, ETL/ELT processes, and data modeling. They should be adept at utilizing notebooks and exhibit a practical understanding of data architecture, data lakehouse architecture, data science, DevOps tools, and practices. We seek a collaborative Senior Data Engineer with exceptional problem-solving abilities and the aptitude to communicate effectively across technical and non-technical functions. The ability to mentor others is particularly important. Experience with other cloud platforms (AWS, Google Cloud) will be taken into consideration, as well as certifications in Azure or related technologies. The Senior Data Engineering and Development Specialist is responsible for driving IT service excellence through customer service, continuous improvement initiatives, project execution, and advanced data engineering solution. This role requires proactive engagement in resolving customer incidents and requests within specified timelines, maintaining positive relationships across teams, and ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction. The specialist leads efforts in continuous service improvement by identifying and implementing enhancements to IT services aligned with business processes, quantifying improvements’ value, and serving as a process owner for key service lifecycle management activities. They also play a pivotal role in project execution, mentoring teams, providing technical expertise, and ensuring project milestones are achieved efficiently. Additionally, the role involves preparing and maintaining comprehensive documentation for enterprise data management systems and applications, standardizing processes across the software development lifecycle. As a subject matter expert in data engineering, the specialist collaborates closely with stakeholders to design, implement, and optimize data solutions that support enterprise-wide analytics, leveraging tools such as SQL, Python, and cloud-based platforms like Azure. They mentor other staff and lead efforts in the roadmap, mastery, and utilization of UKHC Data Engineering tool sets, ensuring proficiency in current and emerging technologies to support data processing, analytics, and enterprise data management initiatives. This is a hybrid position.



Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

The qualified candidate will serve as a subject matter expert for Data Engineering and Enterprise Data Platform processes and will need to have demonstrated experience in integrating, transforming, and consolidating data from various structured, unstructured, or streaming data systems into an appropriate schema for building analytical solutions. Candidates must be experienced in designing, developing, and implementing data storage, data processing and data architectures that converts raw and or disparate data sources into efficient data models that allow for actionable data for analytics, end-user, and application solutions. Candidates must have experience analyzing business requirements and translating said requirements into technical specifications while establishing and defining details, definitions, and requirements of applications, components, and enhancements. Qualified candidates will have experience developing appropriate test cases to perform Quality Assurance on the ETL /ELT/Data Engineering code developed; and experience writing stored procedures (T-SQL, PL/SQL) and complex queries and data processing pipelines. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the Azure cloud services including Synapse, Databricks, Python (or other data processing / scripting languages). Also has extensive experience in ETL / data engineering and data integration validation; strong written and verbal communication skills; and experience in the healthcare industry and knowledge of regulatory requirements such as HIPAA. Experience with EPIC Cogito development is preferred and experience with ML model design/validation is a plus but not required.


Qualified Candidate must be proficient in Data Engineering, Data Modeling, and Data Warehouse Development.

Master’s Degree with 7+ Years’ Experience in Data Engineering, Data Science, Data Warehouse Architecture, or related fields.
