Description

Location: Whitfield County Health Dept. (Dental Dept.) in Dalton, GA

Job Responsibilities

  • Applies fluorides and other cavity preventing agents to arrest dental decay
  • Charts conditions of decay and disease  for diagnosis and treatment by dentist
  • Checks lymph nodes under chin and neck to detect swelling or tenderness that could indicate presence of oral cancer
  • Cleans calcareous deposits, accretions, and stains from teeth and beneath margins of gums, using dental instruments
  • Exposes and develops x-ray film
  • Feels and visually examine gums, using probes, to locate sores, periodontal recessed gums and signs of gum disease
  • Make impressions for study models
  • Provides clinical services and health education to clients and/or staff to improve maintain oral health
  • Removes excess cement from coronal surfaces of teeth
  • May serve as a lead worker
  • May train subordinate staff in proper procedures of day to day operations

Minimum Qualifications

Associate's degree in dental hygiene from an accredited college or university AND current Georgia dental hygienist license AND Two (2) years of job-related experience OR One (1) year at the lower-level Dental Hygienist 2 (HCT011) or position equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Familiar with Phosphor plate digital radiographs

Current State employees are subject to State Personnel Board rules regarding salary.
 
CBH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered.
