Director of Strategy Role

Key Responsibilities:

Reporting to the VP Strategy and Business Transformation, the National Life Director of Strategy Role will be part of an internal team responsible for supporting the creation, communication, and continuous development of National Life Group’s business strategy, market development and business transformation. 

SCOPE

  • Influence business unit as well as company’s direction, policy and strategy, contributing to the development of strategies and action plans to drive NLG along a transformational path
  • Lead cross-functional strategic projects or initiatives, bringing together teams to deliver meaningful business impact, and managing day-to-day aspects of the effort
  • Exhibit a high degree of independence, assisting upper management in generating ideas for future strategy
  • Identify, analyze and prioritize potential new business opportunities for the company including potential new markets, distribution, business models and acquisitions. Develop analyses and formal business cases
  • Track developments in the industry as well as other industries that may intersect with us, connect these insights to business activities, decisions, and relevant partners

DELIVERABLES

  • Strategies and action plans for the enterprise and business units
  • Design or adapt methodologies, frameworks and processes to address complex problems, teaching them to key stakeholders
  • Coaching and guidance for our enterprise partners (including Executive Management Team and Strategy and Business Transformation peers) on strategic thinking and execution

Essential Business Experience and Education:

  • The successful candidate will have an MBA plus 3-5 years relevant experience, ideally with exposure to L&A or financial services. Additional relevant experience may substitute for an MBA.

The base compensation range represents the low and high end of the range for this position. Actual compensation will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors including but not limited to qualifications, skills, competencies, location, and experience. The range listed is just one component of our total compensation package for employees.
Other rewards may include an annual bonus, quarterly bonuses, commissions, and other long-term incentive compensation, depending on the position.  National Life offers a competitive total rewards package which includes: a 401(k) retirement plan match; medical, dental, and vision insurance; a company funded wellness account for director and below employees; 10 paid holidays; a generous paid time off plan (22 days of combined time-off for non-exempt employees and exempt employees have discretion in managing their time, including scheduling time off in the normal course of business, but in no event will exempt employees receive less sick time than required by state or local law); 6 weeks of paid parental leave; and 6 weeks of paid family leave after a year of full-time employment.
