The University of North Carolina at Greensboro Department of Nutrition is seeking an energetic, collaborative, and motivated scholar to serve as the Lake Simpson Dickson Distinguished Professor to support the research, teaching, and service missions of the department.

The scholar must be a leader in research and education with a nationally-recognized research program, extramural funding, and peer-reviewed publications. This professor will enhance and expand the Department of Nutrition through research that complements the department’s current expertise in basic and translational nutrition.

Successful candidates will have a record of scholarship and evidence of teaching ability consistent with the rank of tenured full professor at a research university.  Responsibilities include engaging in research, teaching, mentoring, serving on thesis and dissertation committees, and engaging in professional, academic and community service and partnerships.  Ph.D. in Nutrition or related area required.

Selection criteria will emphasize prior experience, match with department, school, and university areas of scholarship, commitment to working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, and current extramural research funding.  R.D. credential is preferred.

UNCG is a doctoral research-intensive university and a minority-serving institution committed to its status as a diverse academic community.  The Department of Nutrition is ACEND accredited and has more than 370 students enrolled in BS, MS and PhD programs.  The department houses contemporary human nutrition research facilities including personal interview and focus group rooms, a food preparation and demonstration lab, and computer laboratory with access to the Nutrition Data System for Research software.  Adjoining these facilities is the Human Nutrition Laboratory equipped with air-displacement plethysmography (BODPOD) and dual-energy x-ray absorptiometry (DXA) for determining body composition and equipment for measuring physical fitness levels. General information on the Department of Nutrition at UNC-Greensboro:

  • Ten tenured/tenure-track Faculty lines, three Academic Professional lines and one Lecturer.
  • Three undergraduate concentrations – Human Nutrition and Dietetics, Nutrition Science, and Nutrition and Wellness (approximately 325 undergraduate majors).
