As an accredited public health department, we're seeking highly qualified candidates for the position of District Lead Coordinator - Gwinnettto join the Environmental Health Section in Lawrenceville, GA (Gwinnett County Health Department).

Job Responsibilities

Under supervision, this position will primarily serve as District Lead and Healthy Home Coordinator for the assigned health district. Will perform duties in all aspects of the program to include, but not limited to:

  • Conducting case reviews, inspections, risk assessments and writing reports. 
  • Providing guidance and education to families and the medical community.
  • Coordinating outreach to a variety of audiences. 
  • Conducting enforcement activities.
  • Serving as topic expert for the district in childhood lead poisoning.  
*Local travel is required for this position.

Minimum Qualifications

EHS 1: Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university 

OR 

Associate's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND One year of related experience 

OR 

High school diploma or GED AND Two years of related experience. 

EHS 2: Master's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university 

OR 

Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Two years of related experience 

OR 

Associate's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university AND Three years of related experience 

OR 

Four years of related professional experience. 

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Completion of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university which included the completion of at least 27 semester hours (or 40 quarter hours) of laboratory sciences (e.g. chemistry, biology, geology, physics, etc.) or Master’s degree in Public Health or Environmental Health/Science. 
  • Certified Georgia Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor. 
  • Certified Healthy Homes Specialist.
*A copy of college transcript MUST BE INCLUDED when applying for this position.

Valid driver's license required

Certification as a Georgia Lead Inspector/Risk Assessor will be required within 120 days of starting employment per provided training.

All approved teleworking employees must reside within the state of Georgia and depending on the responsibilities of the position, must live within reasonable driving distance of the agency’s primary worksite and beable to report to the office when required.

DPH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degree, diploma, licensure, etc.
