Job Summary
The Data Science Research Services (DSRS) at the Gies College of Business seeks a dedicated Project Manager to oversee all project management functions within DSRS. This role contributes to the advancement of data-centric research by managing resources, project scopes, schedules, and stakeholder communications, ensuring the successful execution of projects within an advanced data science research environment.Duties & Responsibilities
- Project Management
•Define detailed project scopes in collaboration with internal stakeholders and align them with DSRS's strategic goals. Develop project schedules and timelines, overseeing all stages from inception to completion.
•Plan and manage project budgets, ensuring efficient use of resources and alignment with financial objectives. Lead and nurture the DSRS project teams, including a diverse and talented group of students and professionals. - Data Management & Documentation
•Maintain accurate and comprehensive documentation of project progress and deliverables.
•Promote and help manage the DSRS Data Hub and computing infrastructure effectively in project operations. - Communication & Outreach
•Facilitate clear and consistent communication with stakeholders, including faculty, researchers, and external entities.
•Support the unit's efforts to increase DSRS visibility through events, workshops, and publications. Participate in and help grow the unit's initiatives, including expanding services and fostering partnerships. - Related responsibilities and other assigned duties appropriate for the position
Specialty Factors
• Bachelor's degree in business administration, management, or a field related to the position.
• Two (2) years of professional business, financial, and/or managerial work experience in project management.
Preferred Qualifications
•Advanced degree in a related field or Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
•Prior experience in a research or academic setting with a focus on data science, machine learning, or computational infrastructure.
•Experience in managing technical projects involving cloud and high-performance computing resources, programming languages and statistical methods.
•Proficiency in Scrum and Agile methodologies.
•Demonstrated record of successful project delivery.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with an emphasis on fostering a collaborative team environment.
- Excellent organizational capabilities with the ability to handle multiple concurrent projects and priorities.
- Proficiency in project management software and a clear understanding of project management methodologies.
- Solid financial acumen, capable of managing budgets and cost negotiations.
- Understanding of data privacy and security best practices within a research context.
Appointment Information
This is a 100% full-time Civil Service 5010 - Business/Administrative Associate position, appointed on a 12-month basis. The expected start date is as soon as possible after the search close date. Salaryis competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience, while alsoconsidering internal equity. The budgeted salary range for the position is$65,000 to $75,000.
