Idaho National Laboratory’s (INL) Decision Sciences Department of the Energy and Environment Science and Technology (EES&T) is looking for an Economics Operations Research and Analysis Group Lead. You will spend approximately 20% of your time managing your group and 80% of your time on technical research activities.
Our team works onsite with a 9/80 schedule at our Idaho Falls, facility with every other Friday off.
Responsibilities
- Continuously enhance your technical skills to stay current in your field.
- Contribute to research excellence through high impact peer-reviewed publications, software invention disclosures and patents.
- Lead and contribute to proposal writing to acquire funding from various funding offices.
- Use modeling and simulation to address complex problems across multiple different fields.
- Mentor researchers conducting analysis for DOE’s Bioenergy Technologies Office. Work with researchers to maintain and grow their technical capabilities to support that sponsor.
- Actively contribute to diversifying the group’s sponsors to include other DOE or DOD funding offices.
- Perform management responsibilities, including approving timesheets, conducting staff performance reviews, leading group member goal setting and progress monitoring, and supporting staff career development.
- Assist the Department Manager in creating, updating, and implementing a strategy for the group. Assist the Department Manager by overseeing talent development, including recruiting new team members and retaining existing staff, and identifying professional growth opportunities for group members.
- Ensure the work within the group is performed safely, within budget parameters and appropriate scope.
- Maintain the group’s existing technical capability base, identify and build new group capabilities associated with the mission area, and acquire and implement technical programs.
- Demonstrate technical leadership within the group’s area of study/discipline. Perform direct funded research on a topic relevant to the group's capabilities.
Minimum Requirements:
- LP3 - Advanced degree in related field with 3 years of relevant experience or PhD and 2 years.
- LP4 - Advanced degree in related field with 6 years of relevant experience or PhD and 4 years.
- A sustained publication record in operations, economics, logistics, or supply chain research is required.
- You have demonstrated leadership capability that promotes an inclusive and diverse work environment allowing the safe performance of work and research. You must be a "team player" and a developing leader.
Desired Experience:
- PhD in Economics, Operations Research, Systems Engineering, Environmental Engineering/Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
Job Information:
- The pay range for this position is: Level 3 ($93,204-$191,076)- Level 4 ($111,888-$229,284). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
