As a EMS Safety and Compliance Specialist within the Division of Health Protection, Office of EMS/Trauma, Emergency Preparedness & Response Section, at the Georgia Department of Public Health, you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.  

This position is located in EMS Region 3 and covers the following counties: Clayton, Cobb, DeKalb, Douglas, Fulton, Gwinnett, Newton, and Rockdale. 
This is a Grant Funded Position.

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensuring regulatory compliance in the monitoring, evaluation and inspection of EMS agencies and vehicles for adherence to DPH rules and regulations, EMS Procedures, and guidelines.
  • Performs inspections and maintains the data of licensed ground and air ambulances, medical first responder vehicles and neonatal vehicles.
  • Assist with reviews of new licensing applications for EMS agencies and schedules new site inspections and evaluations.
  • Plans and coordinates annual inspections and audits of assigned agencies and licensed vehicles for procedural compliance, or to maintain appropriate licensure.
  • Utilize a variety of monitoring, sampling, and analytical equipment, and instructions to gather and enter data records.
  • Assists in the state’s emergency preparedness and response to natural and manmade disasters and public health emergencies.

Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or GED AND one year of related experience.

Note: Some positions may require a valid driver's license.  
Note: Some positions may require certification and/or licensure.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Currently licensed as a Georgia Paramedic;
  • Five years of experience at the lower level or position equivalent.
  • Knowledge of Georgia’s EMS system;
  • Knowledge in preparedness planning or disaster coordination; and
  • Experience in standard computer programs at a moderate to advanced level of proficiency.

Employment Information

All approved teleworking employees must reside within the state of Georgia and depending on the responsibilities of the position, must live within reasonable driving distance of the agency’s primary worksite and beable to report to the office when required.

Current State employees are subject to State Personnel Board rules regarding salary.

DPH accepts Educational credentials recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degree, diploma, licensure, etc.
