Description

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a well-qualified Postdoctoral Research Associate in the Decision Sciences Department reporting to the project investigator. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our Idaho Falls facility with every other Friday off.

You will focus on the application of techno-economic analysis (TEA) and life-cycle assessment (LCA) to support decision making and project evaluation. Having a strong background in statistics, process engineering, cash flow analysis is required.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Work in a multi-disciplinary team using a variety of modeling tools and approaches to solve problems across the areas of bioenergy, hydrogen, solar, supply chain resilience, and manufacturing.
  • Help develop current and new projects at the INL by using TEA/LCA frameworks to establish economic and potential commercialization arguments for new ideas and concepts.
  • Support INL leadership in meeting Department of Energy / industry expectations, milestones, and deliverables, and INL internal reporting metrics.
  • You are expected to be a strong asset to our interdisciplinary R&D team and work both alone and as a team member. The candidate must be self-motivated but also take direction from other team members and peers.
  • Write scientific manuscripts for journal publication, and presentation of research results at national and international conferences and meetings.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: 

  • PhD in Engineering Economics, Forest Economics, Resource Economics, Systems Engineering, Operations Research, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Science/Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Business or a related field
  • Degree requirements must be completed by commencement of appointment and within the past 5 years
  • Experience with Techno-economic analysis (TEA) and life-cycle assessment (LCA)
  • Demonstrated oral and published written communication skills in English


Job Information: 

  • The target salary for this position is $96,900. At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
  • TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
