Job Summary

The Kentucky Transportation Center (KTC) seeks applicants for Engineer Associate III/KTC position. Prospective applicants should be interested in multidisciplinary transportation research and working on a broad range of topics. The Center performs research in several areas for local, state, and federal transportation agencies. Research foci include highway design; project management; pavement design and maintenance; infrastructure assessment and roadway forensic analysis; construction management; highway and infrastructure safety; structural engineering and preservation; intelligent transportation systems; economic, financial, and policy dimensions of transportation; traffic operations; and environmental analysis.

While prospective applicants do not need to have research experience in these areas, they should have a broad understanding of transportation systems, be open to learning about new subjects, and be excited at the prospect of creating new knowledge that will influence how agencies manage critical infrastructure.

KTC is a vibrant, dynamic, and collegial environment where salary and benefits packages are competitive with the private sector. Our key benefits include (1) a wide selection of affordable health care plans (HMO, PPO, RHP, EPO), vision insurance options, and dental insurance plans to fit your needs; (2) generous retirement savings plans managed through Fidelity or TIAA — the University of Kentucky provides a 200% match on monthly employee contributions; (3) 15 days of vacation per year (initially), 12 days of sick leave, and 13 days of paid holidays; (4) flexible work arrangements — many KTC staff have the option of working 2-3 days remotely each week, with schedules developed in consultation with supervisors; (5) many opportunities for professional development — the Center invests in staff by funding attendance at local, regional, and national conferences, trainings, and other short courses; and (6) the University of Kentucky’s Employee Education Program (EEP), which provides tuition waivers for up to 18 credit hours per academic year.

At KTC there is no shortage of interesting, exciting, and challenging work. We remain committed to building a diverse and respectful workplace that recognizes employees perform their best when they maintain a healthy work-life balance. Come join us in building the transportation systems of the future!
