Location: Remote with requirement to travel for business needs

Basic Purpose:

The Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Manager will be responsible for providing support in the creation of regulatory programs, corporate standards, and trainings. This individual will collaborate with multiple locations across North America to evaluate the effectiveness of site-level programs and procedures, verify they meet regulatory compliance, and implement best practices to mitigate EHS risks.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement corporate standards to drive world class workplace safety performance and compliance.
  • Develop and implement trainings, forms, and resources to drive world class performance.
  • Conduct and/or review incident investigations and complete management reporting as well as provide metrics, reporting, tracking and analysis to necessary parties
  • Participates in site audits and ensures proper and timely action resolution.
  • Conduct gap and risk assessments to proactively eliminate/mitigate hazards.
  • Ensures hazard identification and risk assessments are performed for existing facilities, equipment and process elements and provide input on building safety.
  • Evaluates life safety, ergonomics, indoor air quality (IAQ), noise, dust, hazardous energy control, machine guarding, illumination, and other compliance areas as necessary.
  • Conduct routine program reviews and prepare updates.
  • Lead corrective and preventative action reviews and verify closure.
  • Aid in preparing EHS updates and performance metrics.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of EHS regulations.
  • Manage system for tracking & updating hazardous item classifications.
  • Participates in organizational collaboration and learning events.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum three years’ experience in an environment related to Environmental Health and Safety

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Ability to travel a minimum of 10%
  • Demonstrated ability developing and implementing EHS programs
  • General knowledge of safety and environmental regulations promulgated by OSHA, CCOHS, EPA, Ministry of Environmental Protection, etc.
  • Skilled in developing and conducting EHS related training and audit programs, including understanding EHS Management systems and auditing practices
  • Applied knowledge and experience integrating EHS principles, practices, regulatory standards and requirements into business activities
  • Project management capabilities, develop and deliver senior level presentations with executive presence
  • Experience developing and delivering technical and non-technical training
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; ability to communicate (and work) effectively with people from different technical and business backgrounds, acting as a liaison, understanding, and appreciating different perspectives and translating into terms necessary for any group or individual to understand
  • Ability to lead dynamically and energize multidiscipline work teams to learn and apply new skills and techniques to respond to business needs
  • Good analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills to evaluate business problems and apply knowledge to identify appropriate solutions
  • Effective communication and public speaking skills
  • Collaborative and skilled cross-functional communicator
  • Ability to balance business strategy with department goals
  • Strong presentation skills; ability to present and discuss strategies and technical information in a manner that establishes rapport, persuades others, and establishes understanding for technical and non-technical audiences
  • Comfortable interacting and presenting to all associate levels and leadership Strong organizational skills; attention to detail
  • Ability to resolve issues effectively and efficiently
  • Experience in lean principals, process improvement and change management EHS related licenses, certifications and memberships in EHS professional associations desired

Compensation and Benefits:

  • $80,000-$90,000 (commensurate with experience and location)
