As a Healthcare Preparedness Program Partnership Liaison within the Division of HealthProtection, Emergency Preparedness and Response Section at the Georgia Department of Public Health,you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.

Job Responsibilities

The Healthcare Preparedness Program Partnership Liaison will be responsible for coordinating the program’s partnerships (nursing home, hospice, home health, and assisted living) planning initiatives pertaining to public health emergency preparedness. This position will work closely with staff across EPR and all areas of GDPH to ensure that all projects consider the needs of the healthcare community in Georgia.

This incumbent of this position will be responsible for:

  • Coordinating programmatic outreach with community-based organizations and stakeholders serving client populations that are likely to be impacted significantly in an emergency.
  • Developing and maintaining strong working relationships within the healthcare community.
  • Supporting ongoing, multi-faceted policy development work within EPR to enhance emergency planning within GDPH.
  • Providing duties/responsibilities, which will include large population evacuation planning and logistical planning associated with related inter-jurisdictional coordination of large emergencies or disasters. Those of which will engage in numerous emergency support functions including: transportation, emergency management and healthcare.
  • Participating in emergency related trainings and exercises as required.
  • Reporting to work during emergency activations of the Public Health EOC Incident Command System (ICS), including during non-business hours and in support of emergency drills and trainings.
  • Serving in an on-call capacity.
  • Serving as a liaison to help coordinate interagency communications and facilitate coordinated emergency response, upon an emergency activation.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and five (5) years of experience performing work related to the area of assignment, which includes two (2) years in a managerial or supervisory role.
OR 
One (1) year of experience at the lower level Healthcare Prgm Consultant 3 (HCP092) or position equivalent. 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exceptional organizational, oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills as well as experience and expertise in project management and group facilitation. 
  • Knowledge of the local health care system, social service organizations and familiarity with the concepts of functional needs planning, vulnerable populations, and community resilience and recovery is highly desirable. 
  • Strong ability and facility with team-based approaches to projects, emergency management planning principles and incident response experience is sought.
  • Candidates will ideally possess at least 3 years of programmatic experience in organizations serving client populations with functional needs limitations. 
  • Relevant experience in varied settings, including government agencies, non-profit organizations, and the private sector, is also desirable.

Employment Information
All approved teleworking employees must reside within the state of Georgia and depending on the responsibilities of the position, must live within reasonable driving distance of the agency’s primary worksite and beable to report to the office when required.  

Current State employees are subject to State Personnel Board rules regarding salary.

DPH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered. DPH will contact educational institutions to verify degree, diploma, licensure, etc.
