Do you care about where you live and want to be a part of a passionate team who cares as well? The Michigan Municipal League believes our communities play a critical role in all our lives. We believe in vibrant downtowns, great parks, strong local services, and creating the places we all want to live and work in. We believe strong communities have the power to support economic and social opportunities for all residents, including traditionally marginalized groups. If this sounds like something you believe in too, then our association might be the place for you.

The Michigan Municipal League (the League) is seeking a Help Desk Associate to join our IT/Operations team. The approximate starting salary range for this position is $45,000 - $50,000 depending on qualifications. The Help Desk Associate will be the first point of contact for internal technical support, providing timely resolution of end-user issues related to hardware, software, and network connectivity.  Our ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, is willing to take on new challenges, and can effectively and accurately juggle multiple tasks within deadlines. Excellent customer service, problem-solving and organization skills, and a high level of accuracy and attention to detail is a must, along with a positive attitude and a willingness to jump in to do what’s needed to get the job done.

If you were working for us, here are just some of the things you would do (with or without a reasonable accommodation):

  • Serve as the first point of contact for IT support requests either remote or on-site, providing first-level IT support to League staff while continually striving to improve the end-user experience.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot internal technical issues related to personal computers, laptops, software applications, printers, audio-visual devices, and related equipment, peripherals, and systems.
  • Monitor and assist with IT asset inventory, including hardware and software licensing.
  • Assist the IT team on system upgrades, deployments, and other projects as needed.
  • Provide basic training to end-users on systems use.
  • Ensure proper documentation and recordkeeping of all support activities and resolutions.

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Additional education and/or technical training preferred.
  • Prior experience performing similar work, completed either through professional roles, technical training, or demonstrated personal IT support for friends and family is required.
  • Previous experience in an IT support role preferred.
  • Knowledge of computer installations, troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of technology-based systems and programs.
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal communication skills are required, including strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and close attention to detail is a must.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to think analytically.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities with a high sense of urgency to meet deadlines is required.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with different personalities and individuals at all levels.
  • Ability to live and work in Michigan to support the state the League represents.
