Become an Information Technology - PSC Distribution, Senior Manager at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow.  As part of IT Grid Services, you’ll lead a skilled team of technical experts responsible for ongoing maintenance of the Distribution Control and Outage Applications, including the Grid Management System (GMS), which are used to operate SCE’s Distribution Grid.

Key Focus of Role:

  • IT Operations: Provides leadership on day-to-day activities to the IT operations team for maintaining and supporting Grid Applications and Control Systems, in support of the SCEs Distribution Operations, Engineering and other T&D businesses.
  • Continuous Improvement: Leads the operations team in performing analysis and providing recommendations to address issues as well as implementing tools and utilities to enhance and automate the maintenance of the control system functions.
  • Team Leadership: Supports the development of team members to achieve their professional growth goals while guiding them on a path of Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement.
  • Collaboration: Works closely with our business clients to understand their needs and improve their user experience in the systems we support, including providing resource management for new T&D and IT projects.
  • Incident Tracking: Leads the operations team and be responsible for incident triage to Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) including working with Grid Security and Operation Center (GSOC) to coordinate incident response that requires support from other Grid Services organizations.
  • Grid Controls: The position will be managing the operations team to ensure that the control systems used by T&D groups are functional, accurate and adhere to policies in compliance with NERC and FERC regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Leads a variety of engineering and business initiatives to develop grid strategies, determine how the grid is planned, designed, operated and maintained to operationalize company's strategy
  • Manages and prioritizes the engineering roadmap in collaboration with other departments; develops and implements strategies for improving execution efficiency
  • Leads, manages and supports the project engineering group and remains responsible and accountable for their teams delivery of small to large scale projects
  • Manages execution performance of their teams, identifying barriers, and prioritizing work for their teams to ensure projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budgets
  • Reviews and makes decisions on project plans, resource allocation, risk assessment, mitigation strategies, budgets, and resources to ensure timely and successful delivery of capital and strategic projects
  • Oversee the development and implementation of a comprehensive project management framework to ensure efficient project execution, reporting, and delivery of goals within budget
  • Drives the adoption of digitalization and automation technologies to improve engineering processes, reduce manual effort, and enhance project outcomes
  • Leads the development and maintains a robust risk management strategy to identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with engineering projects
  • Develops goals and assigns projects/roles to employees that translate corporate strategic vision into actionable initiatives to delegate.
  • Leads the development and implementation of cross organizational strategy, technology and safety program to ensure company advancement toward future vision and the well-being of employees and contractors involved in engineering projects
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Five or more years of experience supervising a team of direct reports and/or project management.
  • Experience performing engineering work in operations, production, construction or maintenance environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ten or more years of experience in a combination of Technical/ Engineering and Project Management role.
  • Seven or more years of experience supporting or leading Software projects or key business initiatives. 
  • Five or more years of experience working with Distribution Grid technologies and/or Grid Operations business processes. 
  • Five or more years of experience with Deployment Readiness, IT Operational Readiness, Organization Change Management, Data Readiness, and/or DevOps.
  • Three or more years of experience managing System Integration work to integrate Commercial Off-The-Shelf products with Enterprise applications and systems.
  • Five or more years of experience managing suppliers, service contracts, project metrics, and contracts to meet project objectives.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related technical major. 
  • Leadership and organizational mastery, including effective resource and project planning, decision making, results delivery, team building, and remaining informed about emerging relevant technology and innovation.
  • Experience working in an Agile team using Kanban or Scrum. 

Additional Information 

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

  • The primary work location for this position is Santa Ana, CA.  However, the successful candidate may also be asked to work for an extended amount of time at our facilities in Rosemead, CA or Alhambra, CA.
  • This position leads a team of operational support staff that are responsible 24/7 for critical Grid applications  As a result this position may be called out to work after hours and on weekends as needed.
  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation.  Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
  • This position has an option for a 9/80 Alternate Work Schedule or 40hrs/5 days a week.
  • Relocation does not apply to this position.
