- Jail Side Premium:Mental Health Consultants also receive a Jail Side 10% Hourly Premium.
- Cultural Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA) Premium : MHC with a KSA will receive a 4% hourly premium.
- Retention Incentive: As a newly hired Mental Health Consultant you will receive a one-time New Hire Recruitment and Retention Incentive payment of $1,500 on your first paycheck. The incentive will be prorated based on the position's FTE status.

The DEL Clinic (Juvenile Detention Center) Mental Health Consultant Black Cultural KSA (AA MHC KSA) provides direct services of assessment, crisis intervention, counseling and case management for the mentally ill client population in jail. Indirect services include case consultation, education, research and selected assigned administrative and patient care duties.

This position requires advanced knowledge of and experience working with the Black/African-American community. This would be demonstrated by understanding and supporting cultural considerations that impact clients, including over-representation of Black, Indigenous and other People of Color in the criminal/legal system and the impact of trauma, including racial trauma. Specifically knows the African-American/Black Community, historical and current barriers to mental health services and has knowledge of the traditions, values and customs.

Depending upon assignment, you will be performing some or all of the following duties, which are a representative sample of the level of work appropriate to these positions:
- Provide direct client care services, like assessment, crisis intervention, counseling, case management, and discharge planning for the mentally ill client population in jail.
- Provide indirect services including case consultation, education, research and selected assigned administrative and patient care duties.
- Receive clients on a referred, emergent or follow-up basis; responsible for triaging referrals based on acuity and client needs.
- Ability to use electronic medical records; accurately document client's care through the use of our standard templates.
- Ability to manage a large caseload, and to interface with provider and support staff.
- Use appropriate skills to defuse potentially violent or aggressive situations.
- Participate actively in the Mental Health Team, consulting with providers, nurses, your supervisor, and monitoring client response to treatment; and in court process, when subpoenaed, to explain client's mental health status.
- Work closely with DCJ Management and Juvenile Custody Support Specialists in their day-to-day encounters with mentally ill clients.

Minimum Qualifications/Transferable Skills*:
Education/Certification: Must have a Masters degree and must meet the standards ofQualified Mental Health Professional - R (QMHP-R) with the Mental Health & Addiction Certification Board of Oregon (MHACBO). Please visit the MHACBO website to confirm your eligibility to apply. This position requires a QMHP-R within 30 days of hire and/or licensed Board of Oregon (LPC, LCSW, LMFT, PhD, PsyD, etc.) AND
- Masters degree in psychology or
- Masters degree in social work or counseling or
- Masters degree in a behavioral science field AND
- Current CPR/BLS certification (Valid certification upon hire)
- Black Culture/African American culture Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSA):

- Experience working in a clinical setting
- Experience in a corrections setting
- Licenses/Certificates: Professional licensure or certification (e.g. Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Marriage and Family Counselor, Licensed Clinical Psychologist,).
- Certification in Alcohol and Drug Counseling is highly desirable.
