Salary Range For This Position Is $43,000 - $65,000. Salary Range Is Based On Experience And Education Levels.
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF Laboratory, Histologist
A day in the life of a Histologist include basic histology functions, including light embedding, cutting, and routine H&E staining, are the core responsibilities of our histology team. This is a specialized histology position with a narrow scope of practice, as we operate as a reference laboratory focusing on dermatological and gastrointestinal specimens for unique assays. Ancillary histology duties are also integral to this role and encompass tasks such as quality control, preventative maintenance, assisting other laboratory areas, reviewing standard operating procedures (SOPs), and cutting tissue microarrays (TMAs), among others. The majority of the workday will be dedicated to managing workflows, cutting specimens, and staining slides to ensure accurate and efficient processing.
REQUIREMENTS
- Histotechnologist B.S. in a scientific discipline or equivalent with >1 year of experience, preferred in a clinical, research, and/or development environment.
- The Histotechnologists in the clinical laboratory are placed on a track toward obtaining American Society of Clinical Pathology (ASCP) Histotechnician (HT)/Histotechnologist (HTL) board certification if not already credentialed upon hire and are expected to obtain such certification within 2 years of employment.
- Demonstrated technical proficiency, scientific creativity, successful collaboration with others, and independent thought.
- Clinical Histology Lab methodologies, general regulatory requirements, and laboratory techniques.

SCHEDULE/TRAVEL
- This is a full-time position requiring an 8 hour day with a start time around/at 07:30 am and finishing at 4:00 pm
- CBI operates two histology laboratories, one in Pittsburgh and another in Phoenix. This position is based in Pittsburgh, and travel requirements are minimal. Any travel would likely be limited to rare instances where work-related training in Phoenix is necessary.
