A valid driver's license issued by the State where the applicant resides and insurability as defined in UTS 157 may be required to perform the position's essential functions.Purpose of PositionThe Lead Coordinator is responsible for overseeing comprehensive services for students with disabilities, working with minimal supervision and significant autonomy. This role involves assessing student needs, providing disability-related counseling, and coordinating accommodations and support services that promote academic success and campus inclusion. The Lead Coordinator also serves as a key advisor to students, faculty, and staff on disability accommodations, accessibility, and best practices.Essential FunctionsStudent Intake & Counseling:Conduct intake interviews to assess the academic and support needs of students with disabilities. Maintain a caseload, documenting interactions, case notes, and relevant records both electronically and on paper. Provide ongoing disability-related academic counseling to support student success.Assessment & Accommodation Planning:Review intake forms, medical records, and diagnostic evaluations to assess eligibility for services and determine appropriate accommodations in compliance with university policies, ADA, and other legal guidelines. Collaborate with faculty and staff to ensure effective accommodation implementation.Compliance & Record Management:Ensure all documentation related to disability services and accommodations complies with FERPA, ADA, and other applicable laws. Maintain accurate, confidential records according to university retention policies.Accommodations & Support:Assess and implement appropriate accommodations based on students' specific disability-related needs, in consultation with clinicians, therapists, and other professionals.Oversee the process of determining and implementing accommodations for students, including academic adjustments, auxiliary aids, and services.Ensure accommodations are provided in a timely and effective manner across all areas, including exams, classroom settings, housing, and extracurricular activities.Collaborate with faculty and academic departments to ensure that course materials and teaching methods are accessible to all students.Utilize problem-solving skills to address issues and prioritize the needs of students effectively.Case Management & Documentation:Manage a caseload of students with disabilities, ensuring that their accommodations are implemented and properly documented.Maintain accurate records of student accommodations, services provided, and any interactions with students to ensure confidentiality and compliance with university policies and legal requirements.Use case management software to track student progress, accommodations, and services, ensuring seamless communication and efficient service delivery.Faculty & Staff Collaboration:Serve as a resource for faculty and staff, providing guidance on the implementation of accommodations and best practices for accessibility. Consult with faculty and other campus stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate accommodation execution.Supervise, mentor, and train Disability Services Coordinators, ensuring high-quality support for students with disabilities. Foster an inclusive team culture, encouraging professional development and continuous improvement in service delivery.Advocacy & Outreach:Assist students in understanding their rights and responsibilities under disability law, advocating for necessary accommodations. Facilitate conflict resolution between students, faculty, and staff regarding accommodations.Lead outreach and training efforts on ADA compliance, disability rights, and inclusive practices.Mentorship & Leadership:Provide mentorship and support to CASS staff and student employees in delivering quality services.Take leadership in ensuring campus accessibility and assist in planning for necessary resources and modifications to buildings and classrooms.Training & Educational Outreach:Develop and deliver training sessions, workshops, and presentations for students, faculty, and community members on disability services, rights, and responsibilities. Represent CASS at university-wide events and collaborate with local schools and institutions to promote disability services.Data Reporting & Compliance:Track and maintain accurate data on students receiving accommodations to ensure effective service delivery. Utilize data to update departmental dashboards and support planning efforts for future services and resource allocation.Assist in collecting and analyzing data to evaluate the effectiveness of disability services and improve outreach efforts.Ensure compliance with all relevant state and federal regulations, including ADA, FERPA, and HIPAA.Complies with all State and University policies.Other duties may be assigned.Supervisory Responsibilities: This position does not include direct supervisory responsibilities but may mentor and oversee student employees or lower-level staff as neededQualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
