Hiring Department: Student Engagement & Leadership Center

Hours: 40 hours per week, standard Monday- Friday 8:00am- 5:00pm, flexibility is required on evenings and weekends
FLSA status: Exempt

Salary: $40,480 Annually

Summary:The Student Engagement and Leadership Center (SELC) promotes the principles of Engagement, Leadership, and Inclusion by offering programs and services focused on enhancing the personal, educational, leadership, and social development of students enrolled at the University of Texas at El Paso. The Coordinator Fraternity & Sorority Life will plan and arrange large and small-scale educational, social, volunteer, and recreational programming for students. This Coordinator shall serve as the primary campus advisor to all recognized fraternity and sorority chapters and governing councils. This Coordinator will also coordinate with campus and community departments, upon request, to create outreach programming for off-campus groups, according to university policies and regulations.

Must possess a valid driver's license issued by the State where the applicant resides and must be insurable as defined in the UT System BPM 16-05-02, as applicable to the performance of essential duties and responsibilities of the position.
Purpose of Position
Essential Functions
Serve as primary advisor to fraternity and sorority governing councils (Interfraternity Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council, Multicultural Greek Council, and National Panhellenic Council) and other recognized chapters. Coordinator will attend weekly or bi-weekly council meetings.
Oversee the creation and/or management of leadership programs and trainings for all levels within the fraternity and sorority community (i.e., Fraternity and Sorority Life Leadership Council meetings, Fraternity and Sorority Life leadership retreats).
Create and deliver presentations to large groups; trainings may include organization registration, hazing policies, risk reduction, academic integrity, and other relevant topics.
Supervises a team of student interns who support programming efforts in the FSL area. Supervisor roles include having regular team meetings, one on one meetings with students, delivering constructive feedback and facilitating performance evaluations each semester.
Oversees the marketing and design aspect for all FSL programs and operations. Manages the periodic update of the department's web page, marketing collateral, all signage for student programming, conferences and other events.
Compiles estimated cost models for events, submits final budget, tracks budget statistics and prepares management reports; provides event status updates.
Schedules events considering such factors such as entertainment policy, budget and facility capacity. Organizes and performs pre and post event setup/tear down.
Plan, coordinate, and host chapter advisor meetings.
Responsible for crisis management and decision-making with incidents (personal safety, emergency response, etc.) that may occur at meetings and events.
Responsible for interpreting policy and determining policy violations.
Serves as risk management coordinator for all chapters and councils.
Support and plan end of year awards ceremony.
Oversee National Panhellenic Council sorority recruitment.
Oversee the production of Fraternity and Sorority Life publications with current policies and procedures that align with the Handbook of Operating Procedures and UT System regulations.
Revise and update Fraternity and Sorority Life policies/procedures.
Organizes required event catering services and room and communication equipment setup.
Submits purchase orders and requisitions as necessary.
Maintain data and statistics relevant to fraternity and sorority life.
Create involvement opportunities for students across campus.
Create learning outcomes and assessment tools to measure program effectiveness and knowledge acquisition.
Attend weekly leadership team & staff meetings.
May serve on division and campus-wide committees.
Some travel may be required.
Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and able to learn and use institutional software systems, with proficiency in PowerPoint and Excel preferred.
Complies with all State and University policies.
Other duties may be assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:Supervises Fraternity and Sorority Life Intern in accordance with organization's objectives, policies, and applicable laws.

Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's Degree
and
Experience: Two years of experience, related to the statement of duties and responsibilities; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Master's Degree and at least two years of professional experience working in higher education or related field in education and related to the statement of duties and responsibilities (or equivalent combination of education and experience); knowledge of student development theory; demonstrated experience working with fraternity and sorority organizations; knowledge of policies related to fraternity and sorority life; program development.
