Hours: 40 hours per week, standard Monday- Friday 8:00am- 5:00pm, flexibility is required on evenings and weekends
FLSA status: Exempt

Salary: $40,480 Annually

Summary: The Student Engagement and Leadership Center (SELC) promotes the principles of engagement and leadership by offering programs and services focused on enhancing the personal, educational, leadership, and social development of students enrolled at the University of Texas at El Paso. The Coordinator of leadership development is responsible for working with faculty and staff partners to create large and small-scale leadership programs across campus for all students according to university policies and regulations.

Must possess a valid driver's license issued by the State where the applicant resides and must be insurable as defined in the UT System BPM 16-05-02, as applicable to the performance of essential duties and responsibilities of the position.
Purpose of Position
Essential Functions
- Works collaboratively with faculty, departments, Colleges/Schools and administration in developing, leading and assessing leadership development programs/activities, high-impact activities, and academic success initiatives for first year students, sophomores, juniors, seniors, and graduate students.
- Oversees the continuous development and implementation of the Miners Leadership Initiative, a learning outcome based, programming model that contributes greatly to educating students on leadership development. Create leadership development workshops utilizing relevant and applicable leadership and student development theories.
- Manages the Distinguished Leadership Speaker Series, inviting groundbreaking and thought-provoking leaders from off campus to engage with our UTEP community through a variety of captivating talks and discussions.
- Create a leadership development model, vision and/or plan for the department that outlines leadership programs, events, and opportunities for students to participate in throughout their experience at UTEP.
- Support the Assistant Director with the creation and assessment of learning outcomes which measure program effectiveness, knowledge acquisition, and the understanding of student's leadership development.
- Collaborate with the Coordinator of Student Organizations to develop leadership programs for registered student organization leaders and advisors.
- Serve on the campus-wide Miners Leadership Summit planning committee.
- Serve as primary advisor to the National Society of Leadership and Success chapter.
- Serve as Campus Security Authority as outlined by the Clery Act.
- Attend weekly staff meetings.
- Serve on division and campus-wide committees.
- May be required to participate in university wide events such as Texas Western Gold Rush, Minerpalooza, Orange & Blue Day, Commencement, and Project Move with advance notice.
- Must be available for evening and weekend work as required. Some travel may be required.
- Understands the department's role in accomplishing the University's mission.
- Acts as a liaison between the department and internal and/or external customers.
- Knowledge of all Microsoft Office software and able to learn and use institutional software systems.
- Complies with all State and University policies.
- Other duties may be assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's Degree from four-year college or university
and
Experience: Two years of experience, related to the statement of duties and responsibilities; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree and at least two years of professional experience working in higher education or related field in education and related to the statement of duties and responsibilities (or equivalent combination of education and experience); knowledge of student development theory; knowledge of leadership education curriculum; knowledge of peer to peer mentoring models; demonstrated experience working with student organizations and program development; Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate
