Basic Purpose

The Maintenance & Reliability Planner will effectively manage maintenance work order planning and scheduling for both the Mountville Manufacturing, Lancaster Distribution, and York facilities. This includes developing PM task lists, Build of Materials (BOM) and schedules for new equipment, as well as continuously improving existing equipment preventative maintenance task lists and schedules. 

The Maintenance & Reliability Planner supervises the Maintenance Planner/Scheduler(s) and Maintenance Administrator(s) while working closely with production schedulers to ensure adequate equipment availability, maintenance work plans are complete and necessary parts have been acquired and kitted to ensure the success of the planned activities.  Additionally, the Sr. Maintenance Planner is responsible for the overall success, functionality, and optimization of the spare parts crib.

The Maintenance & Reliability Planner is the site expert on Emaint CMMS and handles all related task. Including resolving all technical difficulties, adding new assets, developing work procedures, employee setup, license renewals, training, and coaches’ other employees on proper usage.

The Maintenance & Reliability Planner filters, processes, and approves all incoming work requests, orders required materials and assigns work to mechanics. Provides status update to requesters and ensures requesters needs were met at the completion of the WO.

The Maintenance & Reliability Planner is the PM Steering Committee lead and facilitates regular meetings with the committee. The committee is responsible for analyzing data entered eMaint and consulting with technical staff and OEM’s to find root cause of equipment failures. The committee will adjust current processes and apply reliability methodologies to drive enhanced asset performance and reliability. 

The Maintenance & Reliability Planner develops, and compiles reports related to PM completion rates, on-time completion, MTBF/MTTR and OEE. This data analysis includes ownership of all departmental KPI’s and the distribution of department performance scorecards. This individual will partner with other maintenance department managers/supervisors to help set strategize and set the direction of the department processes.

Maintenance & Reliability Planner is responsible for ensuring compliance with OSHA requirements and appropriate work-related forms are being completed. Additionally, they ensure that all calibrations and regulatory requirements for equipment are up to date. 

Tasks are to be completed while maintaining the highest safety, food safety and quality, cost and GMP standards in a high-speed manufacturing environment.   

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Approval, planning, sourcing of parts and scheduling of work
  • Entry of new assets, parts room information and task lists into CMMS
  • CMMS Data Analysis and Continuous Improvement Activities
  • Supervision and coaching of others
  • Responsible for reporting food safety and quality issues and initiate action, as necessary.
  • Follow all Food Safety guidelines, such as, but not limited to:
    • GMP’s
    • Allergen Program
    • Quality
    • HACCP
    • Sanitation
    • Safety
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

  • Proven good work performance history with company.
  • Must have experience demonstrating mechanical aptitude through prior work experience or hobbies.

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • No direct reports

Required Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:

  • Associate’s degree in engineering or related technical field (10 years’ work experience in a similar role will be considered in lieu of an Associate’s degree)
  • Demonstrated maintenance and reliability planning experience required. 7 years minimum.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership skills.
  • Experience with cloud-based CMMS systems (eMaint, UpKeep, Hippo, Fiix, Maximo, Dude, Etc.)
  • Lean Six-Sigma certification of green belt or higher.
  • Strong MRO and Inventory and barcoding experience.
  • Ability to work within a team concept. Flexibility is an asset.
  • Strong understanding of maintenance excellence processes/TPM
  • Strong knowledge of Continuous Improvement concepts.
  • Contagious world class vision and drive.
  • Strong safety record.
  • Ability to work independently with limited instruction.
  • Good attendance and dependability a must.
  • Strong Computer Skills.
  • Ability to communicate with other mechanics and be able to explain mechanical processes and theory.
  • Ability to meet attendance guidelines and work additional hours/OT as needed.
  • Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with all contacts both inside and outside the company.
  • Ability to work various shifts, weekends, and overtime as required 
  • Understanding of basic principles of the SQF program and other food safety policies/procedures

  • $58,000 -$90,000 / year USD (commensurate with experience and location)
