Job Summary

Working under the general supervision of the Maintenance Manager or designee. The Maintenance Mechanic Lead Worker is responsible for participating in and/or leading the maintenance department for the general and technical maintenance and repair to ensure safe and efficient operations of the facilities, to include facilities maintenance upkeep of buildings, as well as upkeep of machinery needed to operate and maintain the facility.

Job Duties

  • % - • The Lead Maintenance Worker differs from the Maintenance Worker position in the level of responsibility. This is a working lead level. The incumbent may provide direction, establish priorities, assign tasks, coordinate work projects and the work of other personnel. • Coordinates preventative maintenance programs on heating and air-conditioning systems to include adding refrigerant; washing coils; changing filters, belts, bearings, and electrical components. • Assist in maintaining the work order database by entering and closing work orders. • Maintain and repair various HVAC systems and controls. (Chilled water, VRF, Geothermal, Hybrid geothermal systems, with pneumatic, electronic controls) • Maintain, troubleshoot, repair, or install all associated with electrical systems, (i.e. electrical circuits, fixtures, outlets, timers, motor controls, electric motors, etc.) • Maintain plumbing systems to include fixtures, piping, water heaters, wastewater and drainage. • Perform planned and unplanned maintenance tasks. • Maintain all underground utilities. • Maintain all door locks and door hardware including records, repairs, and cutting keys. • Collaborating and working with outside contractors. • Maintain facility finishes throughout the campus. • Knowledge of the department and work area’s mission and its appropriate application. • Other duties as assigned. - (Essential)

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and vocational training related to maintenance systems.
• 5 + years commercial or industrial maintenance experience.
• Possess “Universal Certification” in EPA Refrigerant Recovery required.
• Requires a working knowledge of a variety of complex systems in order to readily perform a wide range of maintenance tasks. Ability to read blueprints and electrical diagrams.
• Some experience with Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications

• Maintenance-related certifications and licensures.
• Sufficient strength and physical dexterity to perform duties and responsibilities of this job, including heavy work with exposure to inclement weather conditions for prolonged periods of time.
• Must be able to wear and use appropriate personal protective equipment, as necessary.
• Valid motor vehicle operator's license if required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Strong interpersonal and public relations communication skills; ability to effectively communicate using written and verbal skills. Ability to use business English effectively.
• Ability to perform basic math functions such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
• Reasoning ability required to apply analytical problem-solving skills in order to determine how to perform required maintenance or repairs. Must be able to perform tasks guided by TBR and JSCC policy, regulations and guidelines from the EPA, TOSHA, and state and local electrical codes.
• Time management, organizational, and scheduling skills required. Must be able to exercise ethics and maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to make decisions where precedents may not be established.
• Customer service, personnel and time management, organizational, and scheduling skills required.
• Maintenance-related certifications and licensures. Position requires a strong working knowledge of a variety of complex systems in order to readily perform a wide range of maintenance tasks. Ability to read blueprints and electrical diagrams.

Pay Rate: $42,161-$50,593 Annual salary depending on eligible experience which is defined by the current compensation plan.
