Overview/Purpose:

The Maintenance Mechanic I troubleshoots and repairs all plant structures and equipment associated with the production and packaging areas. This is to be done with minimal supervision and in a timely manner.

Primary Duties:

  • General industrial maintenance troubleshooting & repairs (conveyors, statistical weighers, vertical baggers, etc.)
  • Basic HVAC experience.
  • Basic Fabrication (welding, milling, etc.)
  • Completion of PMs (Preventive Maintenance).
  • Tasks are to be completed while maintaining the highest safety, food safety and quality, cost and GMP standards in a high-speed manufacturing environment.

Additional Duties/Skills: 

  • Ability to work with Band Saw Operation
  • Ability to work with Drill Press Operation
  • Thorough knowledge of Welding 1 of 3 Processes (TIG, MIG, Stick)
  • Ability to read & understand calipers
  • Ability for a variety of Industrial Machining: Drill, Tap & Die
  • Wide understanding of operation of gearbox
  • Ability to identify sprocket numbers
  • Understanding of greasing
  • Ability for cutting chain
  • Wide understanding of Pneumatics
  • Wide understanding of Hydraulics
  • Metal Bending (Shop Brake)
  • General understanding of specific lubricants
  • Wide understanding of eMaintenance
  • Ability to unload Bulk Oil truck
  • Ability to load and change recipe on Bag Maker
  • Zero, Span and Test Weigher
  • Ability to properly fit bearing on a shaft
  • Understanding of basic computer skills

Requirements:

  • Minimum two years’ experience in a Maintenance Technician role in a manufacturing environment or related capacity.
  • High School Diploma/GED with substantial experience in manufacturing maintenance and reliability required.
  • Millwright or Maintenance Mechanic Journeyman certification is desired.
  • Experience with CMMS Software required – (Computerized Maintenance Management System).
  • Experience in a GMP-regulated manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Work cooperatively in cross-functional teams to solve persistent downtime issues.
  • Effective communication (both written and verbally) and interpersonal skills.
  • Possess advanced computer literacy.
  • Ability to work with all levels of employees and build effective working relationships.
  • Understanding of basic principles of the SQF program and other food safety policies/procedures.

Work Environment:

  • Primarily, manufacturing environment.
  • Some exposure to fluorescent lights.
  • Exposure to manufacturing equipment hazards, especially forklifts
  • Standing and walking on concrete floors
  • Frequently exposed to a variety of dust particles.
  • Forklift Traffic
  • Lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs.

Potential Hazards:

  • Bumping into & slipping
  • Being hit by falling objects
  • Bending, twisting, lifting
  • CTS candidate
  • Slips, Twists and Falls

Hazards controls:

  • Training on housekeeping issues and awareness of location.
  • Training in proper methods of lifting and load handling.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:

  • Hearing-ordinary conversation.
  • Ability to verbally communicate to team & managers.
  • Climbing stairs and ladders
  • Near & far vision acuity
  • Must participate in pulmonary screening.
  • Stooping and bending

Schedule:

  • Hours: 8-hour shifts
  • Monday-Friday
  • Work every third weekend.
