About the role:
Responsible for connected solutions electrical design, firmware development, integration and evaluation to complement forklift design requirements, associated industry standards for telematics and operator assist systems. Support development of the next generation/ emerging connected solutions, electrical layouts, controller development and integration. Act as a liaison between engineering, connected solutions departments, energy solutions teams and service team. Lead and coordinate all operator assist system related controller selection, supplier selection and evaluation of various technologies. Troubleshooting, issue tracking and resolution on any current or future energy system related field service requests.
What you will do:
- Lead development of Electrical systems, software in collaboration with truck design teams in-line with project plan
- Lead development of harnesses, prototypes and conduct testing to validate electrical and software systems to ensure functionality and meet requirements and standards
- Ensure cross functional engagement by working with internal groups like new product development, test, quality, purchasing, sales etc. to optimize processes and develop new systems
- Work with suppliers to communicate requirements, optimize deliverables and apply the latest technology
- Support the development of risk and safety analysis documentation, FTA (Fault Tree Analysis), and SFMEA, DFMEA (System, Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis)
- Troubleshooting, issue tracking and resolution of system issues and implementing effective solutions to improve system reliability and efficiency
When & Where:
- 15%-20% Travel
- Hybrid schedule
- Will require this position to reside near our Marengo, Illinois location
- The work is primarily done in an office environment with other work locations including development lab, manufacturing line, and field locations such as customer facilities
What you need to have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical. Systems or related field of study)
- 7+ years of experience in systems design, power systems or technology development
- Must possess proficiency in electrical circuit design and analysis
- Strong expertise in model-based design tools and methodologies and control systems design or evaluation
- Experienced in constructing complex project schedules involving timelines, manpower and resources
- Have working experience with electrical instruments like oscilloscope, power supplies, signal generators etc., and CAN tools like CANalyzer, etc.
- Working knowledge of common embedded programming languages (Python, C++, etc.). Experience with CANBus protocols and testing
- Experienced in constructing project schedules involving timelines, manpower and resources
What would be nice to have:
- Experience with firmware architecture design and development, object detection, operator assist technologies etc.
- Experience with electrical and firmware testing, troubleshooting and issue resolution
- Experience with Software integration on electrical sub systems
- Demonstrated ability to participate and take initiatives to drive process improvements activities
- Hands-on experience with design and testing of power electronics, controllers, converters, etc.
- Able to read & create electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, use 3D CAD systems, and troubleshoot electrical circuits

The salary for this position ranges from $94,500 to $135,000 annually. The specific salary for a successful candidate will depend upon, among other legitimate factors, education, training, and/or experience.
