About the role:

This is a unique opportunity to take your skills and be responsible for leading the Engineering/R&D Efforts at Mitsubishi Logisnext as we develop our next generation Telematics and Operator Assistant Systems from concept through product launch. Working cross-functionally, you will drive the development of the team, help choose suppliers/partners, and optimize our portfolio for connected solutions, electrical architectures, and contingent systems. You and your team will also help with troubleshooting, issue tracking, and resolution on current and future field service issues.

What you will do:

  • Lead development of telematics and operator assist systems and software in collaboration with other design teams.
  • Lead development of overall system architecture (CAN based) to enable the integration of various telematics, pedestrian detection and battery systems.
  • Lead the technology development and creation of next generation software and electrical architectures to further truck and product designs.
  • Work with suppliers to communicate requirements, optimize deliverables and apply the latest technology.
  • Support the development of risk and safety analysis documentation, FTA (Fault Tree Analysis), and SFMEA, DFMEA (System, Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis).
  • Troubleshooting, issue tracking and resolution of system issues and implementing effective solutions to improve system reliability and efficiency.
  • Ensure cross functional engagement by working with internal groups like new product development, test, quality, purchasing, sales etc. to optimize processes and develop new systems.


When & Where:

  • 15%-20% Travel
  • Hybrid schedule
  • Will require this position to reside near our Marengo, Illinois or Houston, Texas location
  • The work is primarily done in an office environment with other work locations including development lab, manufacturing line, and field locations such as customer facilities


What you need to have:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Systems or related field of study)
  • 7+ years of experience in systems design, power systems or technology development
  • Must possess experience in deploying telematics or operator assist features (UWB based or camera based)
  • Strong experience in system architectures, embedded systems and feature deployment
  • Experienced in constructing complex project schedules involving timelines, manpower and resources.
  • Working knowledge of common embedded programming languages (Python, C++, etc.). Experience with CANBus protocols and testing.
  • Experience with leading the development of test cases. Also experience with automated testing tools.


What would be nice to have:

  • Experience with firmware architecture design and development, object detection, operator assist technologies etc.
  • Experience with OTA architectures and various authentication methodologies.
  • Experience with Software integration on electrical sub systems.
  • Experience with developing HMI (display) for industrial or similar applications.
  • Hands-on experience with design and testing of power electronics, controllers, converters, etc.
  • Able to read & create electrical schematics and troubleshoot basic electrical circuits.

The salary for this position ranges from $120,000 to $160,000 annually. The specific salary for a successful candidate will depend upon, among other legitimate factors, education, training, and/or experience.
