Pay Range

$33,800.00-$46,500.00 Annual

This is the base salary pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire.   Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors. In addition, this position is eligible for an incentive bonus. 

Johns Manville, a diversified manufacturing company, has an opening for a Manufacturing Technician at our Tucson facility on our day shift. The successful applicant will have the ability to accurately perform shop math, use precision measuring equipment and perform manufacturing duties as directed (rolling, parts manufacture, melting, wire making, CNC operation, parts cleaning etc.).

Weekend Schedule: F-Su: 5a-4p, M: 5a-12p.

Job Description Safety:

  • Maintain a safe work environment.
  • Instruct personnel about safety equipment and its uses.
  • Work closely with supervision and EH&S. Make sure all employees follow OSHA and environmental requirements.
  • Keep employees informed about all changes to JSAs and/or MSDSs. Sign off where applicable.
  • Ensure completion of BBS audits, Pure Safety, and other training.
  • Ensure all JM Policies and Procedures are followed.
  • Stand for a prolonged period.
  • Lift and move items weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be capable of performing repetitive tasks.
  • Must have to ability to operate various hand tools including pneumatic, electrical, and manual. 
  • Ability to safely climb stairs and ladders throughout the workday.
  • Ability to complete tasks associated with various hot works.  Including the ability to wear necessary PPE to protect workers from such hot work hazards.
  • Ability to wear steel-toe safety shoes for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to work in a noisy environment and wear hearing protection as required.
  • Ability to work in a dusty environment and wear respiratory protection as required.
  • Capable of using forklifts, cranes

What You Bring to the Team:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Interface with team members on all shifts and other departments.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Self-starter that, upon completion of training, shows the ability to carry out assignments with minimal direction and supervision.
  • Show initiative in supporting safety plant wide.
  • Computer competency, capable of learning to interface with required databases and programs.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to read, write and interpret complex items in English.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, stressful work environment.
  • Ability to consistently make appropriate decisions with frequent interruptions.
  • Use of basic material handling equipment (cranes/hoists, pallet jacks, lift tables, hand truck)
  • Knowledge of hazards associated with the machine trades.
  • Possess the ability to set up and operate a variety of machine tools/equipment.
  • Situational Awareness -- i.e. operating equipment in a safe manner in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of basic measuring tools scale, mic, calipers

Your Day to Day:

  • Experience with breaks, shears, and other metal forming tools.
  • Ability to read blueprints and make parts from a print.
  • Familiar using calipers, tape measures, and other standard measuring equipment.
  • High School degree. Completion of a machinist apprenticeship program or a technical certificate preferred.
  • Computer literate with experience using Microsoft Office suite of programs.
  • Positive manner of performance; team player.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to read, write and interpret complex items in English.
  • Willing to work any shift.
