Job Summary

  • Provides continuous surveillance of cardiac telemetry monitors to identify and report significant changes in cardiac rhythms. Supports patient safety and clinical communication in centralized monitoring environments.

Essential Functions

  • Continuously observe and interpret cardiac rhythms from telemetry monitors
  • Record rhythm strips at designated intervals and notify nursing staff of changes
  • Maintain monitor station cleanliness and function; report equipment issues
  • Document rhythm interpretations and maintain accurate logbooks
  • Communicate clearly and promptly with unit nursing staff

  • Ability to interpret dysrhythmias accurately
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Able to multitask and respond calmly in emergencies
  • Proficient in EMR systems and basic computer functions

Qualifications

Education

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred

Licenses/Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire

Experience

  • No prior experience required
  • Completion of orientation and dysrhythmia interpretation competency is required
