Description

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a New Reactor Quality Engineering Lead to work in our Environment, Safety, Health and Quality department. Our team works a 4x10 schedule located out of our Materials and Fuels Complex (MFC), in Idaho with every Friday off. Hybrid work opportunities may be available for this position. (You should reside in Idaho or be willing to relocate)

You will report to the Manager of Nuclear Materials Acquisition. You will provide quality and procurement oversite of new reactors that will be demonstrated at MFC. Develop and implement nuclear quality assurance procedures, technical methods, control systems, protocols, and procedures to ensure quality standards are in place and product quality is achieved in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Experience of engineering, procurement, and quality acceptance requirements defined in NQA-1 and related industry codes, standards, and associated guidance.
  • Author procurement specifications and commercial grade dedication plans.
  • Collaborate with design engineering and suppliers to ensure manufacturability of designed items.
  • Work with multiple organizations in selecting and developing the appropriate procurement strategy.
  • Ensure technical requirements and additional requirements necessary to assure adequate quality are incorporated into procurement documents (e.g., specifications, commercial grade dedication plans, salient features lists, statements of work, drawings, vendor data schedule, Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA's), strategic partnership project (SPP), Technical and Functional Requirements Document (TFR),Quality Assurance Program Plan (QAPP), and Quality Implementation Plan (QIP).
  • Perform oversight activities such as surveys, source verification, source inspections, and audits.
  • Support operating or maintenance activities of nuclear facilities to ensure efficiency and conformity to design requirements.
  • Participate in design and design reviews of systems, structures, and components.
  • Provide procurement engineering support to ensure continued operational readiness of systems, structures, and components.
  • Support procurement execution from award, supplier audit, review of vendor data, supplier surveillance, receipt and acceptance of items and services. Aid supplier qualification in selection and evaluation for inclusion of suppliers on the INL qualified supplier list. 
  • Perform alternate item equivalency evaluations.
  • Lead identification of conditions adverse to quality and development of the corrective actions necessary to adequately address the identified conditions.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Level 3: Bachelor's of Science degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, or related ) from an ABET Accrediated institution and 5 years of relevant experience OR a Masters Degree and 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Level 4: Bachelor's of Science degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical, Engineering, ) from an ABET Accrediated institution and 9 years of relevant experience OR a Masters Degree and 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Obtain MFC System Engineer Qualification within one year.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship. 


Desired Experience and Education:

  • Experience in procurement engineering
  • Experience with NQA-1
  • Experience with advanced reactor technology


Job Information: 

  • The pay range for this position is: Level 3 ($91,008 - $186,588 ) / Level 4 ($109,260 - $223,908 ). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
  • TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
  • Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and you will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on depth and breadth of proven experience and skills.
