Description

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Nuclear Procurement Engineer to work in our Nuclear Materials Acquisitions department. Our team works a 4x10 schedule located out of our Materials and Fuels Complex with every Friday off.

INL is recognized as the lead national laboratory for DOE-NE, providing much of the nuclear research, development, and demonstration capability needed to move nuclear innovation forward to deployment. MFC hosts a unique combination of personnel, facilities and infrastructure and offers the ability to perform research and development of nuclear fuels from fuel development and fabrication through post irradiation analysis.

Responsibilities Include:

You will apply sound engineering principles to the procurement of items and services for nuclear facilities (structure, system and component). Provide engineering support during design, analysis, procurement, fabrication, and installation. Ensure procurement and oversight of items and services incorporate correct technical and quality requirements necessary to assure adequate confidence and reasonable assurance that items and services will perform their safety and design functions. Understand supplier interfaces and processes to facilitate delivery of items and services. You will be part of the INL Nuclear Nexus.

  • Possess expert knowledge of engineering, procurement, and quality acceptance requirements defined in NQA-1 and related industry codes, standards, and associated guidance.
  • Author procurement specifications and commercial grade dedication plans.
  • Participate in design and design reviews of systems, structures, and components
  • Provide procurement engineering support to ensure continued operational readiness of systems, structures, and components.
  • Collaborate with design engineering and suppliers to ensure manufacturability of designed items.
  • Work with multiple organizations in selecting and developing the appropriate procurement strategy.
  • Ensure technical requirements and additional requirements necessary to assure adequate quality are incorporated into procurement documents (e.g., specifications, commercial grade dedication plans, salient features lists, statements of work, drawings, vendor data schedule).
  • Support procurement execution from award, supplier review of vendor data, supplier surveillance, receipt and acceptance of items and services. Aid supplier qualification in selection and evaluation for inclusion of suppliers on the INL qualified supplier list.
  • Perform oversight activities such as surveys, source verification, source inspections, and audits.
  • Support operating or maintenance activities of nuclear facilities to and conformity to design requirements.
  • Perform alternate item equivalency evaluations.
  • Lead identification of conditions adverse to quality and development of the corrective actions necessary to adequately address the identified conditions
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Level 3: Bachelor's degree with 5+ years experience in engineering or directly related engineering field from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Level 4: Bachelor's degree with 9+ years experience in engineering or directly related engineering field from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Relevant experience commensurate with level.
  • Experience managing supplier interfaces.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.


Preferred :

  • Advanced degree in engineering or directly related engineering field from an ABET-accredited institution.
  • Experience writing commercial grade dedication plans, specifications, and exercising technical oversight of procurement actions.


Job Information:

  • The pay range for this position is: Level 3 ($91,008 - $186,588) / Level 4 ($109,260 - $223,908). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.

  • TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
