Triton's Ocean Systems is a fast-paced, interdisciplinary engineering team focused on bringing ideas from our heads to the ocean. We work on a wide variety of projects and our breadth provides opportunities to form and lead project teams that tackle the Navy's most pressing problems and priorities. We are developing uncrewed systems (unmanned underwater vehicles, surface craft, launch and recovery systems), marine systems (submarine/shipboard equipment, diver equipment), and ocean sensing systems (including sensors and signal processing).
Position Summary
We are seeking a highly qualified and entrepreneurial engineer with a passion for developing advanced technologies and translating them into real-world applications. Triton's diverse set of projects will give you experience across the engineering spectrum and allow you to shine in a fast-paced environment. Platforms include UUV (unmanned underwater vehicle), underwater robotics and structures, fiber optics, underwater and through hull connectors. Relevant background in underwater robotics hardware, subsea structures, hydraulic systems, and analytical methods is desirable.
Responsibilities
- Self-starter with the ability to recognize and creatively solve complex problems
- Design and prototyping of cutting-edge ocean systems including CAD
- Performing experiments in an independent & inventive manner
- Document project progress
Desired Qualifications
- Ocean Engineering: materials selection, and subsea structures
- Marine robotic vehicles: design, fabrication, and testing, including sensor integration and troubleshooting
- Electrical Engineering: hardware or software development
- Experience designing or specifying and operating hydraulic systems
- Experience with launch & recovery systems, and offshore marine operations
- Experience with development of microcontroller programming, platforms such as Arduino, Nucleo, MSP-430
- Experience with in-water, at-sea testing, or other field testing
- Familiarity with SolidWorks, COMSOL, ANSYS, MATLAB, and/or LabVIEW, etc. is desired
- Familiarity with electrical and hydraulic schematics
- Familiarity with ECAD design skills with Altium or Equivalent
Education/Experience
- BS in Ocean Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related engineering field. Advanced degree is a plus.
- 0-3 years experience working in ocean product design and prototype fabrication and testing is desired
