Basic Purpose:

To ensure specification product is packaged in a safe, sanitary, and timely manner. To supervise the packers, operate the packing machine, and pack products according to schedule and specifications.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:   

  • Conduct pre-start safety and sanitation inspections per instructions and record results   
  • Set up and start various conveyor belts and machinery   
  • Select and properly thread packaging film into vertical form and fill machine   
  • Assure that packaging machine is at proper settings and speeds and document    
  • Assure that product weigh scales are in proper order and document    
  • Assure proper code dates are on the package and document   
  • Make mechanical adjustments to the machine to obtain proper parameters   
  • Conduct various quality control checks per instruction and document    
  • Identify and isolate out of specification finished goods   
  • Write work orders for broken or unacceptable conditions   
  • Keep work area neat and clean and perform preliminary clean-up of equipment at shutdown   
  • Supervise packers and help to assign their duties   
  • Train packers on packing policies, specifications, and procedures   
  • Follow GMP's, Food Safety Policies, and Procedure 
  • Other miscellaneous (helping the team, assisting where is needed)

Skills/Knowledge/Abilities  

  • High School Diploma or GED  
  • Ability to apply common sense and understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved oral instructions  
  • Ability to make simple math calculations and measurements  
  • Ability to use basic tools and make simple mechanical adjustments  
  • Willingness to work in a hot, humid, and noisy environment  
  • Willingness to work independently with minimum instructions  
  • Willingness to work some weekends and overtime as needed  
  • Ability to read and speak basic English  
  • Adhere to all GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) Procedures  
  • Maintain records and communicate and correct out of control conditions  
  • Read and understand basic flow charts  
  • Wear all required protective equipment  
  • Obey all food and human safety rules and regulations  
  • Comply with all company policies and regulations

  • Conveyors, elevators, and lifts   
  • Compressed Air and Live steam lines 

Compensation and Benefits:

  • New starting wage is $21.25 / hour (commensurate with experience and location). *Note that rate could change based on shift schedule.
