As a PH Advanced Practice RN within the Cherokee County Health Department at the Georgia Department of Public Health,you will join a dedicated group of public health professionals that help support the overall mission and vision of protecting the lives of Georgian residents in a variety of ways.

Location: Cherokee County Health Department in Canton, GA.

Job Responsibilities

Under supervision of a senior APRN, performs advanced nursing functions and healthcare services in specialized areas Operates under a written nurse protocol agreement with their delegating physician, conducts complete physicals, provides treatment, and counsels clients. May prescribe medication in some cases. 

  • Examines clients to obtain information about their physical condition.
  • Administers or orders diagnostic tests as indicated.
  • Interprets diagnostic test results for deviations from normal.
  • Instructs and counsels clients regarding women's health, family planning, contraceptive options and effectiveness, health maintenance, and prescribed therapeutic regimens.
  • Makes tentative diagnoses and decisions about management and treatment of clients.
  • Obtains, compiles, and records client medical data, including health history, progress notes, and results of physical examination.
  • Performs therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, IUD, and implant insertions.
  • Prescribes therapy or medication according to protocol.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications

Doctorate or Master's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and/or other education requirements approved by the Georgia Board of Nursing AND certification in the specialty area(s) approved by Georgia Board of Nursing AND Georgia license as a Registered Professional Nurse AND Georgia license as an APRN AND CPR certification.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Public health experience.
  • Women's health experience.
  • Experience with insertion of IUD's and long-acting removable contraceptives.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.

Current State employees are subject to State Personnel Board rules regarding salary.

CBH accepts educational credential recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA) and/or the US Department of Education (DOE) will be considered.
