Become a Power System Application Engineer 2 at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. In this job, you will work with a team to develop & implement critical Real-Time Power System Applications, work with vendor to resolve application issues. You will maintain existing Remedial Action Schemes (RAS) and develop new expansion projects using C, C , and C#.

A day in the life - Get ready to think big, work smart and shine bright!

  • Assist in developing, testing, deploying, and maintaining Real-Time Remedial Action Scheme (RAS) applications on Energy Management System (EMS) and Unified Analytic Platform (UAP) on Centralize Remedial Action Scheme (CRAS).  
  • Perform tier 3 support on sophisticated technical issues associated with Real-Time RAS applications. 

The essentials 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related technical field.
  • Two (2) or more years of engineering experience.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience in developing and maintaining complex programs using C, C , or C#.
  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving system technical issues. 

The preferred  

  • Experience and technical knowledge of SCADA and control systems.
  • Good understanding of infrastructure and networking capabilities to design highly resilient systems.
  • Experience with Linux shell scripting.
  • Experience with network traffic analysis.
  • Experience with GOOSE (Generic Object Oriented Substation Event) protocol.

You should know 

  • This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days.  Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to reside in the state of California.  Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

  • This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
  • Relocation does not apply to this position.
