Processing Operator (3rd Shift)- Terra
Overview/Purpose:
Operates, troubleshoots, and maintains a variety of equipment & positions throughout the Terra Chips Processing Area. This is to aide in the final goal of making a safe, quality finished good for the end consumer.
Tasks are to be completed while maintaining the highest safety, food safety, quality, cost and GMP standards in a high-speed manufacturing environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supplying raw vegetables to the production line
- Monitoring vegetable size profile & taking action if needed
- Monitoring slice thickness & making adjustments as needed
- Monitoring fryer settings to ensure finished product is within moisture quality specifications
- Keeping up with housekeeping throughout the entire shift to stay within quality, food safety & safety standards
- Cleaning fryers as needed to address oil quality issues
- Documenting equipment setpoints & performing quality checks
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred
- Proven strong safety record
- Ability to work well with other team members and management
- Ability to make simple math calculation & measurements is required
- Ability to read & speak basic English
- Bi-lingual with Spanish speaking and writing skills preferred
- Effective communication skills with coworkers and supervisors
- Possess manual dexterity to manipulate machinery
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds to shoulder height on an intermittent basis
- Ability to maintain an effective working relationship with internal and external customers
- Understanding of basic principles of the SQF program and other food safety policies/procedure
- Available to work overtime/weekend as needed

- Expected Hours: 40 hours + some weekends

Physical Requirements/Work Environment:
- The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Regularly required to work around operating equipment, stand, reach, pull, stoop and bend
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit or stand. The employee is frequently required to use their hands and fingers to handle, feel objects, use tools or controls, and climb or balance.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, low levels of toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electric shock and explosives.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. However, some instances of this job may require work in areas where ear protection if necessary.
- Required to work around areas that are oil/ slippery
Compensation and Benefits:
- New starting wage is $20.50 / hour (commensurate with experience and location). *Note that rate could change based on shift schedule.
