Applicants from states with salary band posting requirements:  Salary is determined based on internal equity; internal salary ranges; market data/ranges; applicant’s skills; prior relevant experience; degrees or certifications, etc. The salary for this position ranges from $50,000 - $60,000.

Job Purpose
The Program Coordinator supports the implementation of the Ray of Hope Accelerator program. They are responsible for assisting the Program Director and Program Manager for the annual delivery of the program, including participant scouting and recruitment, program logistics, and project management. They ensure participants have a successful and enjoyable experience in the program. Additionally, the Program Coordinator will assist with the delivery of other programs, including AskNature Hive, Co-Labs, and other emerging programs.

Essential Functions

  • Assist in the annual startup recruitment process for the Ray of Hope Accelerator. This includes:
    • Organizing and managing the application software and processes.
    • Conducting ongoing technology, research, and startup scouting to help fill the program pipelines.
    • Documenting and tracking applicants throughout the evaluation process.
    • Assisting with application evaluations and due diligence.
  • Coordinate logistics for our hybrid program offerings. Typical programs include virtual programming, demo day and a 1 week in-person event. The Program coordinator will work with the Program Manager to secure in-person event logistics to ensure a successful and impactful one-of-a-kind experience for our participants.
  • Assist Program Manager with program development and implementation. This includes:
    • Engaging and managing external stakeholders and volunteers such as mentors, and Selection Committee members.
    • Assisting the development of digital and in-person training content. This may include working with external partners in the development or delivery of content.
    • Along with Program Manager and Program Director, supporting participants as they progress through our programs.
  • Collect and analyze participant and alumni metrics, updating dashboards and databases on an ongoing basis.
  • Support the Program Director in curating community engagement opportunities for the Ray of Hope Accelerator network through the AskNature Hive or Co-Lab offerings.
  • Work across the Biomimicry Institute team (AskNature, Comms & Development teams) to assist with development of public facing content about our participants and alumni.
  • Clearly document and update tasks, projects, and procedures via our project management software (Asana).
  • Assist with the implementation of special projects, such as the Quarterly Innovation Newsletter, portfolio impact reports or relevant trend reports.
  • Assist the Program Director with strategic initiatives. This may include assisting with fundraising proposals and providing project management support for large-scale initiatives.
  • Share best practices as you identify areas for innovation and improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in science or technology (engineering, biology, etc.) and 1-2 years of entrepreneurial experience, such as working at a startup, or working within startup ecosystems.
    • Specific knowledge of biomimicry is encouraged; new hires without this experience will be asked to complete training (e.g. fundamentals course) in biomimicry.
  • Partnership management experience, such as connecting with, and maintaining relationships with, senior leaders across a variety of organizations.
  • Experience leading or participating in cohort based learning programs; background organizing in-person events is highly desirable.
  • Experience in communicating complex scientific information to a broad audience is preferred.
  • A self-starter, with entrepreneurial experience, who has experience in growing programs.

 Skills/Abilities
  • Strong interest in tech innovations that address systemic environmental and social challenges.
  • Comfortable learning and using the digital tools the Biomimicry Institute uses—with little to no assistance, and willing to try out new technologies and work tools.  G-Suite, Microsoft Office Suite and proficiency with Excel required. Virtual meeting software, Asana, Box, Slack, and Zoom are helpful.
  • Confident, energetic, and dedicated to the mission of the Biomimicry Institute.
  • A successful track record in setting priorities; keen analytic, organizational and problem solving skills which support and enable sound decision making. Keeps track of responsibilities and meets deadlines and goals.
  • Adaptable—manages a constantly changing remote work environment; learns to collaborate with geographically dispersed new team members, etc.
  • Clear, direct, and succinct writer.
  • Self-sufficient—takes the initiative and completes work without undue supervision
  • Strong communication and relationship building skills. Ensures every team member is given a chance to speak.
