Overview of Role/Job Purpose:

The Program Manager III will manage complex cross-functional transformational initiatives in a fast-paced environment at VertexOne. The Program Manager III will apply knowledge of all Project Management discipline areas (Scope, Risk, Quality, Cost, Communication, Schedule, Stakeholders, Resources and Procurement) to create/maintain or lead the creation of deliverables for project planning, execution, reporting, reviewing, and decision making. They will be responsible for the planning and execution of multiple concurrent initiatives for the VertexOne Deployment Project Management Office (PMO).

This position will lead other teams at VertexOne to execute multiple project objectives, including deliverables, budget performance, and schedule adherence.

The role needs a highly experienced and strategic leader with a positive "can do" attitude and a demonstrated track record of successfully delivering solutions. Individuals need to take responsibility, be organized, and demonstrate a professional approach to their work.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Lead the planning, execution and delivery of complex programs involving multiple teams, internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure an effective governance model is defined and implemented to ensure project success including effective and timely decision making and appropriate escalations as needed
  • Develop detailed project plans ensuring that all tasks are appropriately scheduled (dependency, dates, resources, effort) and aligned with business objectives
  • Ensure that critical path is well understood and milestones are defined and met
  • Work with client teams to make sure project plan requirements are approved and signed off, client tasks and deliverables are communicated to the client team, and all are held accountable for their deliverables
  • Identify and manage risks, issues, action items and key decisions and proactively drive resolution to keep projects and programs on track
  • Manage communications across cross-functional teams, executives and external stakeholders
  • Manage assigned resources for the project. Identify and negotiate with management to allocate sufficient resources for a successful delivery.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with the client stakeholders
  • Schedule appropriate meetings related to the program
  • Monitor project progress and provide ongoing project status reporting. Escalate issues in a timely manner
  • Manage internal and external expectations, including client
  • Champion a standard project management methodology with supporting processes and best practices
  • Coach and mentor junior project managers
  • Up to 25% Travel to client sites

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Thorough understanding of project management; PMP certification preferred
  • 10+ years (minimum) experience working as a Program Manager in transformational projects
  • 3+ years (minimum) utilities experience and at least 2 full cycle CIS billing system implementations
  • Highly organized and able to wear multiple hats in an ambiguous, fast-moving environment; a driving force who manages toward clarity and solutions.
  • Self-starter, able to work independently on own initiative and as part of a team
  • Successful track record in setting priorities, shaping processes, guiding investment in people and technology
  • Have a strong customer focus
  • Ability to learn quickly and provide value when placed in unfamiliar settings
  • Ability to meet deadlines on aggressive schedules

  • Excellent communicator of ideas both orally and through documents and other visual aids

Salary range

  • $131,000 - $145,800
