Project Biomedical Engineer, Human Systems

The Human Systems group at Triton practices a human-centered design process to deliver user driven solutions in the products we create. We primarily work on projects within the following key focus areas:

  • physiological monitoring
  • trauma & field care medical devices
  • novel human-machine interfaces including haptics
  • synthetic training systems & extended reality (XR)
  • wearable products

We are seeking a Project Biomedical Engineer to join our team.

Objective of Role:

In this role you will be responsible for leading human-centered product design effort as we develop innovative solutions for our customers. You will demonstrate strong practical experience in biomedical and related fields. You will lead the planning, execution, and development of physiological monitoring devices and products for trauma and field care with the help of a multi-disciplinary team. You will contribute to the growth of these focus areas by pursuing grant opportunities.

Some of Your Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical expertise and project management of 1-3 concurrent projects
  • Support the detailed systems design process, including the integration of sensors and hardware into biomedical solutions
  • Generate bench level testing strategies and conduct lab experiments
  • Work with military and civilian end-users to understand market needs and standard practices
  • Presentation of results to customers (written and oral)
  • Direction and mentorship of junior staff
  • Support business development through proposal writing and the pursuit of strategic partnerships
  • Recognize and creatively solve complex problems

You will be expected to work with colleagues on small teams, both within the Human Systems group and with other groups across Triton, on a diverse array of projects. You will communicate clearly and effectively with customers, partners, and vendors.

Minimum Requirements:

  • PhD in Biomedical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related engineering field; Several years of Postdoc experience preferred!
  • 3-6 years of experience working in biomedical or related fields would be needed for this role.
  • Experience and interest in a team leadership role
  • Systems engineering and device development (both regulated and non-regulated) experience, including use case definition, system and detailed design, verification and validation testing, and/or failure mode and effects analysis
  • Applied electrical engineering experience capable of designing and integrating off-the-shelf sensors and signal processing hardware
  • Signal processing with proficiencies in MATLAB and/or LabView
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Broad physiology background is desired
  • Adaptability and desire to learn new technologies
  • Experience with SBIR programs is desired
