Description

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Quality Engineer to work in our Environment, Safety, Health and Quality department. Our team works onsite with a 4x10 schedule located out of our Materials and Fuels Complex in Idaho with every Friday off.

You will support Nuclear Science & Technology Post Irradiation Examination at the Material Fuels Complex as a research quality engineer. You will report to the Nuclear Science and Technology Manager.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Verify instructions or inspections are adequately performed as specified in procedures and work control plans; perform general verification for equipment and materials; and perform surveillance and assessment of quality related matters.
  • Quality review of work packages, work orders, material requisitions, purchase orders, contracts, and procedures.
  • Provide clarification and determinations for designated subject matter expert areas as assigned.
  • Support work areas by providing quality process expertise and ensuring quality processes are implemented correctly.
  • Provide approval of supplier submittals through vendor data system.
  • Ensure quality program weaknesses and areas for process improvement are properly identified and resolved using the INL Issues Management process.
  • Mentor peers and engineers in developing and implementing INL nuclear quality assurance procedures, technical methods, control systems, protocols, and procedues to assure quality standards are in place and a quality product is achieved.
  • Coach facility personnal through the application of subject matter expertise in the quality requirements for activities affecting quality in DoE nuclear facilities and non nuclear facitlities as identified by the quality assurance program.
  • Perform as a quality program area technical contact and subject matter expert, as assigned by management.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Level 3: Bachelor's Degree 5 years of relevant experience or Master's degree and 3 years or relevant experience or in lieu of degree 11 years of relevant experience. Relevant experience includes (design, quality and/or implementation of nuclear quality requirements, manufacturing, welding inspection)
  • Level 4: Bachelor's Degree 9 years of relevant experience or Master's degree and 6 years or relevant experience or in lieu of degree 15 years of relevant experience (design, quality and/or implementation of nuclear quality requirements, manufacturing, welding inspection)
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain familiarity with common INL NDE area (e.g.., RT, MT, PT, UT, and VT) implementing processes.
  • Obtain and maintain proficiency with implementing INL Quality Assurance Program processes. (e.g., PDD-13000, LST-1118, NQA-1, Software Quality Requirements, ASME B31.1 and B31.3, ASME Section III, V, VIII & XI, AWS D 1.1, and AWS D 1.6., and other national quality standards)
  • Within 12 months you are required to obtain and maintain the INL Quality Engineer qualification, Radiation Worker I qualification, INL Lead Assessor qualification.
  • Obtain Site specific and Work Organization specific qualifications as assigned.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.


Desired Knowledge:

  • Experience implementing DoE order for 414.1D
  • Experience implementing national consensus standards such as ASME NQA-1


Job Information: 

  • The pay range for this position is: Level 3 ($75,804 - $155,496 ) / Level 4 ($91,008 - $186,588 ). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
  • TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
  • Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and you will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on depth and breadth of proven experience and skills.
