Howmet Aerospace is seeking a Quality Engineering Intern to join our team at our Rochester, NY location. This position will report directly to the site’s Quality Manager with daily coaching from the team’s quality engineers and technicians. The Howmet Aerospace Summer Internship Program, will include engaging in impactful projects to assist Howmet Rochester and the Students professional development.

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Become familiar with the AS9100/ISO9001 standards & specific internal procedures.  Perform internal audits to uncover and close gaps found from audits.

    This in preparation for the plant’s AS9100 recertification audit
  • Organize/create one source for completed first article inspection files that currently rest in multiple locations. 
  • Determine flow down accuracy of customer specifications.  Correct as required
  • Learn fundamentals of Howmet Rochester’s metal forging process
  • Participate in plant Gemba walks
  • Promotes, maintains, and enforces safe and healthy working conditions for all employees in accordance with regulatory requirements & company standards
  • Other duties as assigned by management: e.g., 8D write ups, Data analysis, Problem Investigation.


Desired Qualifications:  


  • 3.0 GPA and above and have prior work experience
  • Must be currently enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in Engineering with an expected graduation date between December 2025 and May 2027
  • Experience in high volume manufacturing preferred but not required
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Teams, etc.). Must be proficient  working in a Microsoft systems environment
  • Ability to multi-task and balance multiple priorities at the same time while focusing and carrying out tasks in a timely & accurate manner
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with operations personnel, internal and external customers and top management representatives
  • Has the ability to relate to and cooperate with cross-functional teams and manufacturing personnel
  • Must be comfortable in a metal forging facility that requires the use of PPE: Personal protective equipment 




Interns must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position

Salary Range:

$22-$23 /hour depending on experience
