
Quilt Room Supervisor
Job Synopsis
The Quilt Room Supervisor is responsible for managing the quilting operation, from having tops prepared through the final binding procedures. The supervisor keeps records of donated quilts and tops and oversees distribution of quilts to Relief Sales. This position is also responsible for the direct supervision of quilting volunteers. Another key function is managing the Yard-age Sale in the fall. The Yard-age Sale and the quilts distributed at relief sales generate a significant amount of income each year to support the Material Resources Center (MRC) budget. This position reports to the Material Resources Center Manager and cooperates with other MRC staff members. The purpose of the MRC is to process material resources for MCC, involve volunteers in the ministry and vision of MCC, provide educational opportunities for MRC visitors and generate a portion of MRC budget needs.Job Details

· High School Diploma.
· Two years' experience with advanced skills using textiles, sewing techniques and sewing machines.
· Extensive knowledge of the quilting process.
· Basic MS office and computer knowledge.
· Beginning level data entry and inventory skills.
· Knowledge of current quilt trends.
· Self-motivated and proven ability to work as part of a team.
· Strong relational and communication skills needed.
· Attention to detail.
· Ability to complete complex quilting processes from start to finish in a timely manner.
· Employment eligibility: Legally eligible to work in the US. MCC offers of employment are subject to a successful criminal background check.

Key Responsibilities
70% Coordination of quilting projects and initiatives
10% Relationship building/networking with over 13 quilt committees nationwide (with the PA Relief Sale Quilt Committee being the primary connection)
10% Customer service
10% Education/training volunteers
Specific Tasks and Duties:
· Manage the full process of quilt preparation from receiving donations to distribution of quilts to relief sales.
· Instruct and supervise volunteers in all quilt room activities.
· Develop/nurture relationships with volunteers.
· Keep records and inventory of donated quilts and quilt tops for purposes of monthly and annual reporting as well as the end-of-year audit.
· Carry out the comprehensive steps involved in the quilting process including construction, marking, staging, quilting, and binding in a timely manner.
· Oversee preparation of wall hangings and quilts.
· Make decisions about design, color and quality of quilt room products based on current trends.
· Keep up-to-date on trends by attending quilt shows.
· Manage quantity and quality control of quilts.
· Prepare off site quilting projects for volunteers.
· Maintain a clean and orderly quilt room.
· Purchase quilting supplies.
· Oversee maintenance of equipment.
· Consult with the PA Relief Sale Quilt Committee as needed, especially January-April.
· Engage and network with all quilt committees MCC supports as needed.
· Manage the processing and end use of donated fabric in collaboration with the Sewing Room Coordinator.
· Supervise the organization and the sale of the Yard-age Sale fabrics and donations
· Manage donations of quilts that come into the quilt room.
· Attend staff meetings to plan and organize the activities at the MRC.
· Attend relief sales as an MCC representative as requested.
· Attend East Coast staff meetings as requested including annual teambuilding days.
· Occasional weekend and evenings required.
Perform other duties as assigned on a temporary basis.
Supervision: This position does not supervise other staff.. The person does supervise approximately 20 volunteers every Wednesday and up to 50 volunteers every day an Amish group comes in.
Travel expectations: Negligible. Some travel Locally to East Coast Meetings to Philadelphia, Harleysville and Chambersburg. Annual trip to PA Relief Sale first weekend in April.
Physical activities and demands: This position occasionally has a need to perform medium work that includes moving objects up to 50 pounds. This position constantly has a need to remain in a stationary position, often standing or sitting for prolonged periods of time, move about to accomplish tasks or move from one worksite to the other, perform light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds and assess the accuracy, neatness and thoroughness of work performed. This position will occasionally be exposed to a noisy environment and small or enclosed spaces.

Base salary: $20.32. Starting salary may be adjusted up to $22.58 based on previous experience.Benefits
