Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Radiological Controls Supervisor to work in our Environment, Safety, Health and Quality Group. Our team works onsite with a 4x10 schedule located out of our Manufacturing and Fuels Complex in Idaho.

You will report to the Senior Manager of Radiological Controls. You will schedule and coordinate the daily activities of technicians to maintain the INL Radiological Controls program standards and to support Facility operation and production schedules.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Schedule and coordinate the daily activities of technicians to maintain the INL Radiological Controls program standards and to support Facility operation and production schedules (this may range from 1 – 20 technicians). Obtain additional personnel coverage when needed and available and ensure appropriate charging of staff to customers by providing appropriate charge numbers and by approval of time sheets. Also approve PL of assigned staff. Deviations from budgeted hours versus actual must be communicated to the Radiological Controls Manager and customers. Attend appropriate facility meetings such as Plan of the Day (POD), scheduling meetings, staff meetings with Radiological Controls Manager and communicate the needs, challenges and positive contributions of your team. Receive general direction from the MFC Radiological Controls Manager, and daily priorities from the appropriate facility management. Responsible for decisions within the general framework of INL radiological control procedures. Decisions made independently include those regarding; staff assignments, coordinating work, facilities, maintenance and construction group leaders, and identification of job control requirements on a job-by-job basis.
  • Assist Radiological Controls Engineering staff with facility management and programs for execution and approval of procedures, work packages, RWP's and equipment modifications to ensure proper radiological controls for the facility will be in compliance with radiation protection requirements. You will evaluate risk and define job-specific controls for various radiological activities including new and unique evolutions involving significant quantities of radioactive materials.
  • Ensure Radiological Controls program compliance by providing daily oversight and guidance to line management, radiological workers and Radiological Controls personnel through field observations. Obtain and integrate feedback from employees concerning safety, health, quality and environmental issues for specific activities and obtain and share relevant lessons learned.
  • Communicate Radiological Controls program expectations to HPT's and hold them responsible for their performance and standards. Monitor performance and provide feedback. Also ensure HPT's are current on training requirements for their jobs. Provide facility specific training OJT's for HPT's.
  • Evaluate and interpret data collected from technicians and monitoring equipment to provide a radiological hazard-free/controlled work environment and to detect abnormal trends indicating developing problems. Review radiological survey reports and electronic logs for proper content and completion. Ensure proper disposition of assigned ICAM's and support performance assurance activities such as assessments, inspections etc.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum of high school diploma/GED & DOE RCT/HPT Core Certification plus 8 years of experience in radiation protection.


Desired:

  • Bachelor's degree or advanced degree in science
  • 10-12 years experience in radiation protection.
  • NRRPT
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship


Job Information:

  • The pay range for this position is $78,828 - $181,296 . The target range is $108,682-$164,987. At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
